We went to the lock tea room at Heybridge on a Saturday morning. We parked close-by in the car park behind the pub. The menu wasn’t clear about the cream tea if it said two scones my partner and I would have shared one between us instead of ordering one each. Lesson learnt. The sandwiches were lush and came with crisps and salad. Again we could have shared a plate between us. Lovely atmosphere in the tea room. You can purchase the tiptree jam products and there is a toilet for customers. Lovely views of the sea and boats. An outside area for customers that wish to bring their dogs and have a coffee. Heybridge is a lovely place for bird watching and for a lovely walk with beautiful views. Will be back soon.

Understandably on this gorgeous day there were no tables left outside, but loads available inside. Fast & polite table service, and the coffee was great. Sadly the Key Lime Tart looked better than it tasted (a little bland) - but the vanilla ice cream was....well - creamy! However, I was told that the Banoffee Tart was "to die for"!

Lovely cafe by the estuary. Good quality food and reasonably priced. Staff nice and friendly.
