21/10/23,.. its 30 +years since I last come here I think it was the wise owl then and a night club ?, absolutely brilliant pub / eatary, food was 1st class ,beers were spot on cold and a nice head. I was with a party of about 12, we just came in just for drinks and pub food so didn't have to book, we had a great afternoon, staff: one lady with glasses was doing everything but she was polite and professional considering. The young girl that couldn't serve drink because of age needed to move a bit quicker!! Also I did find big cobwebs looking like they been there for a long time hanging from the curtains in the area where the dartboard is unless they were there for Halloween 🎃 Lol!!
I would like to say seriously need extra staff on busy times, my self and 2 others were the only people at the bar but waited
20 mins for a beer because lacking staff.
But overall I would definitely be popping in again some time. 5/5

I never expect anything of road side pubs and I rarely stop at them but was hungry and the place looked well maintained so a good friend and I gave it a whirl and what a pleasant surprise.. Met by a lovely girl who seemed to be doing everything bless her but all with a smile on her face.. We ordered food and it was quite exceptional... Peter had Coronation chicken and it was a wonderful variation on a theme with hot tender chicken breast on a bed of perfectly spiced beans and lentils and other intriguing ingredients inc Pomegranate.. Presentation was superb and my mate was blown away by the dish. I had a burger and fries and as a chef I know very well there are burgers and burgers !! This was an excellent home made burger, beautifully seasoned, perfectly cooked and presented in a fresh Brioche bun Chips were perfect piping hot, crispy outside fluffy in the middle and sprinkled with sea salt Joy !!!
5 out of five for food, the like of which you rarely get in a pub these days

Cant grade the atmosphere as me and my mate were outside in the garden with my dog but I have little doubt the young lady who looked after us so well would ensure a good atmosphere

We had a really nice meal, we went for a car meet supporting Rose Motorsports.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere, loved the idea of fleecy blankets to borrow if going outside.
Food was yummy too, I had the halloumi/chips and cookie dough 🤤

I have often passed the owl on my journeys but decided to stop for lunch so glad I did the food was excellent, portion size excellent,the staff friendly, pricing was good. Will definitely be going again highly recommend

What a lovely pub! Reading the reviews it's hard to believe they've only been running it a short time. The food was excellent and clearly made by chef. Thank you looking after 3 smelly campers on our way home. Would recommend the very tasty chicken and hock ham pies
