The Old Oak is a charming country pub located in the peaceful village of Horsley Woodhouse. It's a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy a relaxed meal or drink in a picturesque setting.
The pub has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with a traditional decor featuring exposed brick walls, wooden beams, and a log fire. The staff are friendly and attentive, and they are always happy to recommend a beer or wine from their well-stocked bar.
One of the standout features of The Old Oak is the beautiful beer garden, which overlooks the rolling countryside. It's a great place to relax and enjoy a pint on a warm day, and there's plenty of space for children to play.
Overall, The Old Oak is a delightful country pub that offers excellent food, friendly service, and a lovely setting. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to the area, it's definitely worth a visit!
The Old Oak is a fantastically run friendly ale house that can be enjoyed by the whole family and is heart of the community. With a beer garden, 4 good sized rooms to appreciate, and with a selection of traditional board games to play, it is a good place to chill out and read a book or two too from the many on offer. Plenty of parking, and with very helpful staff, one can pull up for a pint and enjoy the decorative surroundings or stay very comfortably for many hours. Not a food pub as such, but there are great hearty cobs available at weekends and many pop-ups, usually at least one a week, and a sit in Sunday lunch once a month run by a very good local cafe. Everything here is very reasonably priced and there is a piano to have a little play on if you feel so inclined. The range of beers, mainly from independent breweries, is outstanding. Light to dark, many different ABVs. All straight from the barrel - nice. A rather excellent range of traditional ciders that are full of taste and flavour. Spirits are like 35ml. So in every way possible it beats your "Spoons". A fantastic rural and traditional pub that have lovely wood stove fires in the winter. Oh, and you can bring your dog too! Wheelchair accessible. There is also ample baby changing facilities for those bringing the small ones. Huzzah! A right little gem! Bang on.
A very good country real ale pub. Dog friendly good friendly staff
A good beer selection and some small breweries representing the local area.
Atmosphere was light and relaxed and very welcoming.
Decor could do with a spruce, but for a small country pub that caters for the village, it's brilliant
Really good village pub. Real ales at reasonable prices. Friendly welcoming vibe. Very highly recommended.
Lovely old style pub friendly atmosphere lots to look at and be interested in,not a boring chain pub , it's an a1 local pub quirky and warm, it also brews most of it's own Ale on site
A real Derbyshire gem. No slot machines, Juke boxes or other tacky stuff. Excellent Beer at reasonable prices and several places to sit and drink and talk. Lots of live music. The back room is home for various community bands/choirs. A really excellent local pub.
If you appreciate real beer, you’ll love this place. Regularly changing quality beverages, with consistently friendly and knowledgeable staff… and not just about the beer!
If you’re not an ale swiller, don’t worry, they’ve got a decent selection of regular pub beverages, too. You won’t be disappointed!
Great pub at heart of the community. Locally produced ales and great selection of ciders. Cracking good cobs made to order on choice of wholemeal, cheese or salt and pepper topped for £2.50.
