In my opinion one of the best places to eat in Norfolk , massive portions delightful delicious food , fantastic menu with plenty of variety, staff are all friendly , owner is lovely and will go out of his way to prepare meals which sometimes aren't even on the menu if he can . Love love love this restaurant, as do all our friends which we have taken there to dine . Make sure you book to avoid disappointment, as gets extremely busy even during the week.
Been to the recruiting sergeant many times & never had a bad meal..had a table for 11 of us last Saturday for my 40th & it was brilliant!! Great food,great service..really cannot fault this place..absolutely top class!! Out of all the places I've been to the sergeant is by far the best!!!
We went for sunday lunch, celebrating my husband's birthday, Wow is all I can say, We had heard good thing about the food and it was correct. It was amazing, the staff were very friendly. 5 star place. We will definitely go again
This is is a nice restaurant with superb service and really good food with big portions. We were office group and enjoyed our time for dinner at this restaurant. They have indoor dining with outdoor seating with and without shades. They do have rooms too but we were there only for the food. This restaurant is out of Norwich main city limits with ample of seating capacity.

Also the dressing of the plates is nice but also the quality is superb.

Huge portions which were absolutely delicious. Fantastic menu to choose from with lots of different options. The staff were all very happy and attentive. We had a few drinks in the garden area to which is very well kept and a beautiful setting to relax in. Our favourite dinner out of the week we stayed in Norfolk.
For someone who has struggled to accommodate their partners dietary requirements this place ticks all the boxes.
Visiting Friday night and explaining Heidi was gluten and lactose intolerant are server said that they could accommodate her. She then took the time to explain the options available and how individual dishes could be prepared to meet her needs.
The end result met all my expectations and I would totally recommend this place to people who have specific dietary requirements 🙂
Fantastic food, very generous portions and friendly super efficient service. We were a table of 15 for lunch, everything was served together, piping hot and as ordered(except a slight hiccup with a steak that was rectified very quickly without question). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Yes it is a little more expensive than some places but well worth it especially as most of us couldn't manage any tea! It's a shame that I live so far away or I would be back regularly to work my way through more of the extensive menu as it was so difficult to choose!
My god! The portion sizes are biggest I’ve ever seen! Incredible, couldn’t finish my meal, was to much food on plate, which was great, quality of food great. If your hungry and wanna a hearty meal, then eat here for sure, will be back for sure at some point, as ain’t gonna need to eat for weeks!
The food was amazing, Good quality and great choice of menu. Service was also very good. My only feedback would to possibly reduce the portion size slightly as out of 6 of us only one managed to to fully clear their plate. Would definitely visit here again.
Come her quite often for a lunchtime meal. Staff are friendly and helpful. Service is excellent and food is wonderful. Great value for money. Would highly recommend.
Had a meal at The Recruiting Sergeant whilst on holiday with my family plus visited several times for drinks. Lovely outside area at the back of the pub and the inside has been decorated nicely too. Our meal was delicious and portion sizes huge so didn't need starters or desserts. The menu had lots of gluten free options so I was spoilt for choice. Would highly recommend.
