Wanted to try here for a while and now I have and enjoyed it. Food is nicely cooked. My other half had liver and said it was very tasty and tender and I confirmed that by trying some. I had the sliced roast beef which was very tasty and tender without the grisly bits. veg was peas and carrots with mash and boiled potatoes. We would have preferred say broccoli or cauliflower but instead of the peas but that's just our preference. For sweet we were Guinea pigs trying out a new xmas sweet option with a cheesecake like appearance which had a biscuit and mince pie base, and contained rum soaked raisins rice pudding and chocolate raisins with and topped with swirled cream. My son and me enjoyed it but said it didn't need the cream on but it still went down well. My wife said she loved the taste but the cream was too much and was a bit too much for her really. The chef is a great down to earth jovial character and said he could cook anything and alter food content if required as he did for the wife. Elliott the landlord is a friendly guy as well. Also called Elliott is his parrot who whistles from time to time. Thought the bigger room was a bit dark and a change of lighting would help. Good sized car park and is dog friendly. Overall we will go back as we enjoyed it and recommend you do. Mains from around £10 sweets £4.95 Beer selection is good if a little pricy at £3.60 but it's becoming like that now.
We we're well impressed Sunday just gone. Really welcoming hosts and staff, a really well done beer garden, my daughter loved the cute play area, and thank you for letting us eat outside, the view is beauty. Oh and Thankyou for letting our daughter order slightly off menu too!
The food was great, keeping a small menu really pays dividends as everything we had was that extra bit special, the veggie parcel was ace and the crumble was really exciting, I didn't have a bad mouthful of either.
Thanks again to all your team as you really made our day.
Friendly welcome, well-kept real ales, great beer garden with fabulous views down the valley!
We popped in this evening as we were passing and decided to get a bite to eat. From a classic pub menu, we choose pie and chips and burger and chips. Both were home cooked, fresh and hearty. Clearly made to order- the portions were man worthy! If you’re looking for a relaxed, honest out of the way pub with great food and views to write home about then this is the One for you. Great service and hospitality from all of the staff.
Best pub meal we have had in a long time, far better than any others in the Holmfirth area. Very friendly, honest and polite. The food was fresh and delicious, highly recommend to anyone and would definitely come again. Thank you for a lovely lunch.
Extremely helpful, polite and friendly staff . They were so welcoming , even my friend's dog got a fresh water dish and dog treats. We asked for a sandwich , despite them not being on the menu and they happily obliged . The pub was also clean and pleasant to sit in so yes, it's worth a visit .
Been wanting to call here for a while, glad we did. Made very welcome by Elliott and his son, sorry didn't catch his name. Lovely meal, all home cooked, and a couple of drinks. Nice to see another pub keeping to how pubs used to be, how they should be. Elliott the parrot is great. Thankyou will definitely call again. Emma and Andy from Barnsley.
We only called for a couple of drinks but it was a very nice place. We used to go before when it was the crossroads. It shut down and has reopened as the toss o'coin. We will definitely go back and see what the food is like as the people were very friendly.
Absolutely perfect, lovely staff, I was lost in the aria of around the pub 9/6/2019 as I am from a different city, After looking in many different places to charge my phone to contact my wife I went in and the staff there were very helpful and I couldn’t thank them enough, they helped me charge my phone and they were trying to their best to help me. A big thank you to Michelle who understood the situation and not only made mine and my families day but 23 families who were waiting on a call from me to say that everyone is okay as they were on a school trip. Thank you again and I appreciate your help!!
Our 1st time at the Toss O'Coin and it certainly won't be the last.
Due to the Covid restrictions, we were outside in the beer garden. Although very busy, we managed to find a table.
The staff were rushed off their feet as it was the 1st Saturday after lockdown and a nice afternoon but still offered a great service!
They even managed to find a bowl for some water for our Dog!!
A lovely scenic setting with a good range of beers - what more could you ask for???
