I love the duo of lamb, but the steak is beautiful & my daughter loved her mac& cheese.
We followed that up with banoffee pie it was amazing.
So if your looking for a nice spot for a meal while on your travels around here then pop in .
Better still book a table in advance & avoid disappointment, i can promise you will enjoy you visit either way
Nice fresh modern pub, with plenty of seating inside and outside, one section is known as the restaurant. The staff are very friendly, and service was fast. We had the special (shepherds pie) and it was delicious, plus the calamari and fries. The prices are standard, thus quite high.

Just been here with my boyfriend and his mum and the food was absolutely amazing. I had the mac and cheese with beef brisket and it came out red hot and it was delicious, I also had the brownie bombshell for dessert and that was divine. The service was really good as well and they were all very kind and welcoming. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some nice food. Thanks to all of the staff working today; Claire, Jess, Ildi, Craig and Kelly.

Lovely to see three vegan desserts (great for me as I am allergic to eggs) some restaurants don't have any.
The fruit crumble and vegan custard was divine.
Had a lovely lunch here today. Service was exceptional from Claire and Ellie. Despite being very busy, service was prompt and friendly but also very professional. We three ordered diffeent dishes and all were very
tasty and enjoyable. Desserts were also excellent. The whole experience was very enjoyable and the bonus was the lunchtime price offer.

Lovely setting with beautiful views from the outdoor seating area. Inside a warm traditional country setting. The staff were very knowledgeable with regards to gluten free dining-my fiance is coeliac. All in food beyond its price & as good as you could ask for. Highly recommended
Excellent service from Jess and Ellie :) the food was incredible. My favourite is the sticky chicken starter with chilli jam (I purposefully made a trip here for that dish). Everyone is so polite, the atmosphere is so lovely and you can tell the place is so looked after:) We will definitely be back again :)

Got enough to eat. Very tasty but was only warm.
Ordered 2 puddings 🍮 exactly the same. But 1 came out stone cold with hot custard.
The other was great.
But instantly fetched me a new one.

Kelly and Jack were very attentive and pleasant. Excellent atmosphere with a roaring fire on a cold day to knock the chill off. The food was extremely good. It's not the cheapest around, but it is worth every penny. We have never had a bad experience at The Sovereign and will be back.
We had a family get together. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Service was quick and the food was superb. Nothing was too much trouble and Charlotte who was new to the position was amazing. The order was correct. So we're the drinks and dessert. Nothing was too much trouble and Charlotte made our night feel extra special.
Lovely, warm atmosphere with helpful staff. Food was good. We did feel slightly rushed to make our food choices when we got the menus but not too bad.
Very pleasant, well decorated rooms with a warm welcome. A varied menu including a choice of items for vegetarians and vegans. Portion sizes were appropriate (not too big, not too small) and the service was cheerful, polite and genuinely pleased to serve you. The junior waiter got our hot drinks order wrong, but it was all sorted out quickly and without fuss. Prices were a little on the high side, but not extortionate.
A lovely country pub, nicely decorated and spacious (and plenty of room between tables!) but cosy too. And a fire roaring in the grate, couldn't be better. Every meal I've had there has been delicious, and good quality. But the real stars of the show are the staff. No matter how busy or run off their feet they are - even Christmas - the welcome is always warm and friendly, and nothing is ever too much trouble. The service can't be faulted, smiles seem to be the order of the day and you're made to feel special and valued. Yesterday it was Claire, Kelly and Suz - well done, all of you, and thanks for a lovely lunch. The pub does get busy, understandably, so best to book beforehand. Plenty of parking too.
We had not been to the Sovereign for many years as we now live some distance away. We were overall very happy. The initial welcome was not the bestas it was not clear where sit sit while we waited for our friends to arrive. I would be best to be welcomed with a drink and sat in the bar with a menu. Once seated the service and dinner were very good. The best part was the service from Charlotte who was very pleasant, genuine and helpful.
The food was lovely, I had sticky crispy chicken, followed by ribeye steak, both very tasty, mum had garlic mushrooms, followed by the curry, she liked the starter but not the main, think it was to sweet for her.dessert was lovely too.
Staff were very nice, but did notice that one of them who I think was the manager had one of her hands in her jeans pockets while taking our order, she also did this with other customers too.it doesn’t look very professional in my opinion.
What can I say? The sovereign has an amazing homely feel , propper Yorkshire friendly greeting.
The service was 5star with a little banta for free .
The staff are so friendly & so helpful too. Mia, Max & Lee, made us feel right at home.
They where so helpful with the menu & knowledgeable with there products too.
Having such well trained staff with such great personalities makes this place a great place to relax while having a fantastic meal.
Options ranging from good old Haddock& chips my dad enjoyed very much , to daily specials like Chicken leak & pancheta pie my wife said was beautifully cooked light flaky pastry with creamy chicken & pancheta cooked to perfection.
I had the Duo of lamb.... WOW two meals in one. An amazing Shepherds pie with creamy mash topped with a bit of cheese like mum used to make & two large lamb steaks with veg & gravy . Just cooked to perfection.
We highly recommend booking you table for an enjoyable meal in a homly welcoming environment. Enjoy!
Our absolute favourite place to go. Such a brilliant pub. Great food, drinks and ambience. Big thank you to Claire one of the staff there who was really good last time we went. Look forward to going again soon.
