First meal since the takeover, and I’ve never had a better one there . Beautiful homemade food and great service all round , we’ll definitely be returning very soon. The hoi sin duck balls for starter were to die for. Followed by Beef & Ale pie with chunky chips & veg. Then finally my old classic favourite of apple crumble & hot custard
3 course meal for 2, with 2 & a half pints each
£66.00 ,very reasonable and worth every penny
Went for lunch today to discover that today was the first day after a refurbishment. New management, new kitchen staff, fantastic waitressing staff. Very welcoming and the food was excellent. This is the place to go for a really good meal. I will definitely be going again!
Great traditional pub with good food, wines & staff. Tasteful decor & separate eating areas giving a friendly atmosphere. Our second visit & looking forward to coming back for another visit to sit in the pleasant landscaped garden. Ample parking & lovely area.
Under New Management and boy can you tell. Amazing new menu, traditional pub grub and very tasteful. Highly recommend their 'Pie, Mash & liquor' Only Served between 12-9 on a Tuesday but worth a visit for. Also came back for their Sunday Roasts and could not wish for a better meal, every member of my family commented on how nice it was. Looking forward to coming back already.
Stopped over for breakfast on our way home after a weekend of camping.... WHAT A GEM! Fantastic food, great service. We will be back.
Absolutely amaizing place looks beautiful the drive was a great experince on its own. The atmosphere of the resturant was brilliant, staff and the breakfast we had there was some of the best ive ever had
Lovely atmosphere, staff very attentive and helpful, food well presented and very tastey. As Arnie would say 'I'll be back'.
I ate here today .it really is a lovely place to eat .Staff very friendly and the food was good
Great breakfast, coffee included in the price which is a bonus, and drink as much as you like... Friendly staff. Food arrived really fast... Thanks woodman from ASE....
Popped into here with family after an expected hour delay on our journey home round the M25.
We were seated and served very quickly by friendly helpful staff.
Vegan options were ideal due to my dairy/lactose intolerance so win win for us.
For came out in good time and was tasty and well presented. Kids portion was also plentiful.
Have now marked this place into our favourites if we're ever travelling back up from Hastings area and heading home to Essex.
Thanks for a good meal!
I live very close to The Woodman, and have seen under a few different management teams in its time. Previously it had been under a team which mistreated it and served poor food.
However, now under new management it is really, a brilliant country pub! The menu offers lots of choice and has a good number of pub classics. I've been back three times since I first noticed it had reopened. The service was very fast and friendly. Talked with the manager who was a top bloke, and showed us around the pub and its function room which was very clean and tidy, with its own cute little bar.
I am definitely going to be making this my local again, so much nicer than the other pubs in my local area. definitely recommend for a nice meal!! :)
Having drove past this rather well presented pub on my way over to Sevenoaks for an errand we decided to give it a try on the way home. The reviews looked good with nothing adverse so why not.
The car parking is plentiful and the overall presentation very good indeed, well groomed garden and seating areas being put to good use by families eating on a fine day. We chose to sit inside and found the seating to be generously spread out and of good comfort. Reviews mention lack of staff and its evident that a skeleton crew works a Saturday lunch but any waits were short lived and waiting staff are reasonably attentive.
Quality of food is very good, baked camembert to start with ample bread and butter to enjoy it with. Some superb garlic bread with cheese clearly made fresh which is oh so important! The Mrs had ham egg & chips that was hot, clean, very tasty and hit the mark. I went for the lamb shank that invariably comes from prepack but was well presented and tasty. Vegetables and seasoning in general were a tad lacklustre but the addition of salt, pepper and a little butter in the mash lifted the dish to a very good level.
The menu is clear, not overly complicated or pretentious and has options for all palettes. Pricing I felt was on par for the quality of the food presented with plus points for a very comfortable environment to eat it in. Overall service was perfectly acceptable but as other reviews noted if it was any busier I feel that could slip so beware if you visit on a busy day.
We paid the bill and had a very polite and informative conversation with the young lady who had served us our food. She was genuinely interested in our experience and ongoing day which was a very nice end to our visit. Hope to see you again soon!
