Whatever chef Brado and the team did has given the Box Tree a fresh new menu and a higher standard than before. Having eaten there since he has taken over, there is an obvious increase in quality. The new dishes are bolder with an air of confidence from the new head chef and his kitchen.
Front of house the service is excellent and the sommelier knowledgeable and happy to give his recommendations. Waiting staff were pleasant and professional.
Location of restaurant means no on site parking but the main town car park is to the rear of restaurant with a 1 min walk.
With a constantly evolving menu there will always be a reason to go back.

Tasting menu. Some excellent food and great wine pairing. Missed out on 5 for the food because the cheese course had no taste of cheese, it was totally overwhelmed by the oats. The beef tartare was a stand out, as was the chocolate dessert. Very enjoyable evening, the staff were faultless.

From arrival to leaving this restaurant treats its customers like they are their only guests. Attentive and friendly and a very comfortable relaxed atmosphere. As for the food there are not enough superlatives to do it justice. Flavours were subtle and then strong. Dishes served beautifully. And the idea of updating 60 years of previous menus is just inspired. I would very very highly recommend.

Came here for our ten year anniversary and they did not disappointment. Card on the table to congratulate was a lovely touch. The sommelier was fantastic, lots of great picks and information. And the food... I was a little worried it would be all style and no substance but I couldn't have been more wrong. Everything was out of this world in flavour, quality and texture. Honestly one of the best meals I have every eaten, worth every penny. We will hopefully be back soon!

We had the pleasure of having a dining experience here for my partners birthday.
Staff were very pleasent and fun and we found the place to not be as pretentious as other awarded resteraunts. Food was incredible as were the cocktails. Also for an almost 3 hour experience price was very reasonable. Will deffo be coming again.

This restaurant has managed to remain unchanged in its appearance for over 40 years! It’s a wonderful period piece but with a very up to date set menu which managed to please a picky octogenarian and her slightly younger children. The food tastes delicious and the wine list is good value too.

Flawless. By far and away our best culinary experience. Exquisite food, impeccable service, beautiful surroundings. Feels old school in the best possible way. Not cheap but worth every penny - thank you for a wonderful evening.

We have been a few times for dinner, which has always been delighful, so fancied trying Sunday lunch @boxtreerestaurant , every dish was delicious and perfectly executed! Definitely, the star dish was obviously the roast beef! It's really good value for money for a five course lunch. The wine is always fantastic, clearly the staff were very busy, but as always, very pleasant.

Sensationally satisfying and an Ilkley treasure. It was birthday treat, so put a tenner aside for the year and treat yourself to a real Yorkshire Sunday roast fine dining experience. Expensive yes, are you worth it? Abso-bloody-lutely!

Rather fabulous meal in an incredible setting.
£90 taster menu. 9 courses and each one was faultless. Beautifully presented and precisely prepared.
We've eaten at Michelin starred restaurants and this is every bit as worthy.
Highly recommend a visit.

It is not often that we dine at Michelin star restaurants so when we do, it makes it extremely special and memorable. It’s even more precious to share the dining experience with a loved one. The Box Tree was established in 1962 and the setting is a Yorkshire stone farmhouse. The restaurant gets it’s name from the box trees planted in the front garden.

Tranche of Halibut with Mayan Gold potatoes & asparagus – as Michelin say in their red guide, “Only the best ingredients are used” Here, they were cooked with splendid skill and precision with a respectful simplicity. Sublime.

Service throughout was just the right balance of formal and friendly. Before the meal, we had decided upon a shortlist of possible wines, but the maitre d' cum sommelier steered us away towards a white Bordeaux at half the price of our ideas, a 2007 Graves, Château Arzac Cuvée Lea, which was an excellent recommendation, working extremely well with all our dishes.

Brian T. I ate at the Box Tree some years ago when they were offering a meal at a special price through a newspaper offer.<br/> I never forget the table setting. On the table was the usual salt and pepper, but surrounding them were half a dozen red skinned raw potatoes! When I commented to the waiter he said that they had won a prize for the best table setting. It quite put me off my meal, especially when years ago when the Box Tree management had operated from Kildwick Grange. Anyone ringing up and asking the cost of a meal were always told that if they had to ask the price then they could not afford to eat there! Then, the food was very good. On the day I visited at Ilkley it was pub food. Perhaps now under their 'Michelin Star' chef it might be better.
