Outstanding. Parking is ample and wheelchair accessible. The location, a rural idyl with an amazing southerly backdrop of the Black downs. You can watch the sunset whilst sipping a pint in comfort: peak Somerset. The service was friendly and professional. Waiting time was reasonable so too the price. The food, I had jerked pork and it was cooked to perfection and authentic, the equal of anything I've had in London or elsewhere. A very precise balance of heat and sweetness lifted a lovely cut of pork. The same goes for the squid, all too easily overcooked it was on point and well accompanied. I'd highly recommend going for the Carribean options. They are the equal of any dish served in the area and display ability, thought and craftsmanship.

We didn’t stay over but wish we could have done. Came for food after spotting the Caribbean items on the menu. Super tasty dishes, we had jerk pork and the goat curry, both really really good. The setting is excellent too, a lovely garden for outdoor dining or a porch type area for indoors, plus the pub itself.

We visited yesterday evening for the second time this year and as before, we couldn’t fault it in anyway. We made a very last minute booking, which was no problem at all. On arrival, we were warmly greeted and were able to choose a table in the evening sun filled conservatory. A gorgeous location, with beautiful views over the countryside. Both staff members, were incredibly friendly, informative and efficient! We decided to go all out with cocktails and three courses and we were not disappointed. It is great to come somewhere that does not serve your ‘average’ pub food, leading to trying foods that you wouldn’t normally eat. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted amazing! Clean plates all round. Thank you all, for making our Friday evening perfect :)

🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂 We booked the restaurant a few days before for Sunday lunch. We were informed by Buddy that it was going to be a carvery. As a pescatarian, I was somewhat underwhelmed! However, much to our delight, we were soon offered a fish option. We quickly accepted! On Sunday morning, we got an early(ish) phone call offering us a cod or sea bream option (what service, rarely found in the South West, I'm afraid to say from my own experiences) We arrived at the appointed time & the restaurant was empty; my heart sank a bit as I thought this was a bad sign. There were a few people in the bar. However, on a positive note, Bob Marley was gently playing in the background. His quiet and soothing numbers. Excellent! Perfect for lunch! I have always loved his music, having been schooled in multicultural Lambeth. My school was opposite the Oval Cricket ground, & when the West Indies played, the joyous sounds were overwhelming! I digress... We noticed a carvery was being set up. Buddy welcomed us in a cheery way and soon took our order. Our drinks arrived & our food order followed soon after delivered by our waitress. It was fantastic; perfectly cooked sea bream on a bed of perfectly cooked mixed vegetables, pea shoots, delicious beans & all manner of other delights. Wonderful! It was one of the best meals I've experienced. Our waitress quietly & politely checked on us during the meal. After we had finished our main course, a tour bus arrived. The restaurant quickly filled with guests from across the pond! Our quiet start now became very entertaining! Kate had previously advised that our peace was about to be shattered.... The American guests were on a 2 week tour of the UK (more like a dash, in my mind!) They were friendly folks, but not invasively so. We spoke to Kate soon after they arrived (when she'd settled them in) and talked about what the pub had been like over time. She was keen to know more about it's history. We then watched Kate 'work the room'. Buddy & Kate are excellent hosts! Soon after, we met the chef & thanked him for a delicious meal. We would recommend booking by telephone & asking about available food options as we found they were very accommodating. All in all, superb fish meals & a very welcoming & friendly atmosphere! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Wonderful little pub. We were a group of 8 family members with 2 dogs. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Service excellent with delicious evening meal choices. We were all very happy with the quality and taste. Some more interesting options from the carribbean on offer; I tried the curry goat with rice which was delicious. Its just a shame that we're not local, otherwise I'd definitely be there a lot!

As a fellow of bajan decent I can attest that the food is beautiful, travelling from Auckland, New Zealand to visit family. Wonderful host, go along and get the real deal.

Had a really good meal here, not the cheapest but worth it. Good pint of beer. Dog friendly. One to return to!

We were on holiday looking for a nice place to eat when we came across the flying fish all looked good so we booked and am glad we did was lovely to find a nice little country pub restaurant run by a lovely couple very welcoming and the food was cooked exactly how we asked for me being in the industry for over 27 years unfortunately a very rare treat (am not to fussy 😅)and by that the steaks I and my dad had were cooked to perfection 😋 were back down next year so will definitely be back thank you !

Very clean and pleasant country pub. Have been twice. First time, I had a very nice pint of Proper Job. Tonight, was a delicious pint of Christmas ale. They're shutting soon for Christmas reopening on the 6th of January. Then, I will have to try the Barbados boneless goat curry. Well now, I've had the goat curry. It's delicious. So is the Jamaican jerk pork, the slow cooked belly pork, the rib eye steak, and the lamb shank. Almost half the way through the menu now. And it's all fantastic. 30/06/23 Had all of the menu now, and some that isn't on the menu. Nothing has disappointed so far.

We didn't stay in their accommodation, only an evening meal. Food and drink were excellent as ever, with some authentic Caribbean dishes which I love. Buddy is a proper landlord, lovely guy. One of our party would have liked lower, 'mood' lighting where we eat, but if that's our only criticism, they are doing a pretty good job! We'll be back
