Reviews of Sangri

Nice and clean restaurant on the BRIGHTON Road in South Croydon. Was busyish for a Friday evening (we went at 830pm) but they had enough space for 3 of us. Good prices and food service and food was lovely. Shame they don't do any alcohol free beers but other than that great evening out. Staff are friendly and prompt (but not too 'in your face').

A friend and I often look for a pleasant and convenient place to eat in Croydon. This restaurant is a favourite because the food is good, the service is friendly and courteous, the ambience is warm and pleasant, and the prices are reasonable. In addition the restaurant is convenient for the shopping centre and for the station. But I make an exception here. The decor is great, the service is very friendly and the food is tasty. Everyone we take there loves it,

Let me start off by saying that the location is in the heart of Croydon, that’s right, high street! This was my second time going to this restaurant and I have to say that both times I was overwhelmed with the high level of hospitality and the overall quality of each dish that I ordered. I had the biryani the first time and it was very nice. The chicken jalfrezi was superb! I had mine with keema naan and it had the perfect level of spice as the restaurant owner kindly asked the chef to put in a hint of the naga chilli for my benefit. The staff are attentive and show a good sense of urgency for each one of their guests. Prices are fair as this is an upscale restaurant so no complains there. If you don’t believe my words maybe my pictures will help in regards to the high level of quality of the food I had. Now that I have mentioned the staff and the food, now let me move on to the superb décor that Sangri has! The lighting is modern and attractive with beautiful velvet curtains near the end of the restaurant given it as gothic red look as it moves with air flow. Will I be back? Yes! It is now my regular curry house! Looking at negative reviews confused me as I rarely see anyone complain here, but I guess some people you just cannot please. The owner himself will personally greet you and attend to each one of your needs. Thank you Sangri ! Keep up the good work!

NEVER EVER AGAIN. Had a horrible dining experience. The food is very bland, maybe if you don't know about proper Indian food you might not know any better. The staff were not helpful, didn't like their attitude. No baby changing and didn't give me any alternatives, just didn't care and walked away. The food come in very small portions, starters are too small to share-and of course the waiters don't tell you this. We asked for ice in our drinks and got 1 cube in the glass. <br/>A pretty establishment but a poor excuse for a restaurant. Clearly cutting corners to make money than give you any sort of quality.

Very Pretty, but the food didn't live up to the looks.... Right in the heart of Croydon's restaurant area this small restaurant is conveniently near the local clubs and bars. <br/><br/>Sangri is very well presented, from the décor to the food, everything looks good. The décor is modern with Indian extras. The staff are very friendly and, due to the size of restaurant they are right there when you need them. This makes a nice change from having to wait for service. The food itself is stunningly presented, a lot of time and thought has gone into it. <br/><br/>BUT, the food was a bit hit and miss. The starters (Onion Bhaji and Crab Cakes) looked fantastic, but were a bit bland. The mains were the reverse, the flavors were very strong!! The tikka masala was too sweet for example. And for some reason my dish came with a big unidentified fried something that looked like fried spaghetti which didn't taste really of anything, and wasn't really that nice to eat.<br/><br/>Overall, service, presentation, décor, perfect. But the flavors in the food need more work to make it taste as good as it looks.
