Skipped a starter as I wanted to leave room for desert!
I had a Grill for my main and it was exquisite. I asked for my steak medium rare and that’s just what I got. It was pink, succulent, tender and melted in my mouth. It’s flavour was just unbelievably good. Chicken wings came with the meal as did a half rack of BBQ ribs which complimented my meal perfectly. The wings were dry and crispy and lightly spiced so they weren’t unbearably hot and the pork came away from the ribs with ease. On the side I had chunky chips, corn on the cob and battered onion rings. Yes, I did go to town with the added options but I was having an early dinner to set myself up for an evening of flowing alcohol. To follow I had the Chocolate Brownie Knickerbocker Glory which was fantastic! A generous portion of chocolate and vanilla ice cream was mixed with a moorish chocolate brownie, covered in chocolate sauce and a generous helping of cream, served in a unique glass handled mug. The bespoke decor inside the restaurant was obviously not built on a budget and provided the room with character and ambience. There’s nothing worse than looking around at blank walls whilst conversing at the dining table with your fellow guests so it was lovely to be able to discuss the fine detail that surrounded us. The low ceiling lights provided an ideal spotlight on our food so we could see exactly what was being served up by the efficient staff who were both very attentive and cheerful. They really made our evening complete and enjoyable. One thing I did really appreciate was the provision of a steak knife that would have made Crocodile Dundee proud. It was near on the size of a sheath knife and cut through my steak effortlessly! It was my first visit The Forge and certainly won’t be my last! Thanks for a lovely evening!
We went to the Forge for breakfast this morning after I had seen they had introduced a breakfast menu in the Ipswich Star recently. We're always on the lookout for a good breakfast spot and we have definitely found our new favourite! The place has been done out beautifully and the owners have definitely paid attention to detail. The food and service were excellent and at reasonable prices. We peeked at the drinks and dinner menu and can't wait to try more of what this place has to offer!
Location is brilliant right in the dock.
Food it self is good quality for what you pay portions could be slightly better but can’t complain for the price.
Would recommend one of the set meals.
Drinks are fresh along with nice bourbons available.
Perfect place for food and drinks and a walk in the docks.
An amazing restaurant with truly delicious food!! My partner is gluten-intolerant and around 80% of the menu is gluten free or can be made without using gluten. The burgers are delicious and I would highly recommend the wings as they were our favourite part of the meal!
We came here on July 5th for my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary. We have not visited The Forge Kitchen before but we'll certainly be back! The service was brilliant, welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.
The food was excellent 👌 My wife had pulled pork nachos for her starter and she said it was the best nachos she'd ever tasted. Similarly her steak was cooked to perfection. I had the Hog board and that belly pork was incredible! We will definitely be back 😁👍
The atmosphere and aesthetic of the place is lovely. We were sat near a really loud group of people, however, not the staff's fault. My partner found a staple in his food, but this was quickly rectified and we're given 50% off the meal. Lovely manager and staff. The food was great and the cocktails were even better:)
First impressions - OBSESSED with the decor inside. Unique, industrial but cosy, just everything you want from a restaurant. They have a terrace upstairs which looks lovely too but it was way too warm for us😅 The food is so good especially considering the affordable prices and the service was amazing. From the moment we walked in to the second we walked out the door we were made to feel so welcome. Also wanted to give a shout out to our waiter Daniel who was so attentive, honest and friendly, making us smile and feel at ease the whole time ❤️ Overall The Forge was a great experience and definitely somewhere I would recommend to anyone visiting Ipswich!
I absolutely love this place.
Great atmosphere, brilliant service. The food was absolutely fantastic. The bar tenders are great fun to watch making cocktails from above.
Definitely be going back.
We came here for our anniversary as something different and wasn't disappointed everything was cooked to perfection food was delightful atmosphere was quaint and enjoyable and service was on point
Fantastic place to eat. Smoked BBQ meats and a variety of side dishes. Awesome cocktails. Go eat here!!!!
Excellent atmosphere, service was great and the food was top notch. The burgers were lovely, juicy and full of flavour. Some interesting but very well done ideas.
Next visit I'll go for one of the smoked meat trays.
The decor was a nice modern but industrial look.
Loads of interesting cocktails with some fantastic and unique presentations. Lagers, bottled beers and wines also served along with spirits.
A personal highlight was the warm alcoholic butterbeer. A must try with dessert, served individually in a cask ale glass tankard or for sharing as a pair in a teapot.
Will certainly be recommending and returning.
Date night at the forge kitchen, service was attentive and friendly cocktails were amazing and food delicious. The atmosphere was buzzing. Definitely will return. Thankyou
