We had a fantastic lunch at the Ship today..Thursday 26th October 2023. We have visited the Ship a few times over the last 15 years and we have never been disappointed. Friendly ,mannered staff..lovely clean surroundings and wonderful food. The owner is also a lovely host. Hopefully we will be back.

Booked table for 15 for a family birthday dinner. Staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and everyone really thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Thank you for the wonderful service, too!

It was a cold and rainy day in early October. We were tourists from the USA just wandering the roads in our rental car.. I told my husband that I just wanted a warm fire and a nice drink to ease my dreary wet self. We decided to try The Ship and to my surprise… there was my fire. I spied the “prickly pear” cocktail and thought it a good choice. No, it was a perfect choice. Maybe the best cocktail I’ve ever had. The bartender, Jamie, was a joy. He tried to school me on recreating this delicious treat when I returned home. Alas, I’m still trying to perfect the taste. Thanks for a lovely memory. David and Marie Georgia USA

The best meal I've had in ages. Lovely to have good vegan food and a menu that catered to all our tastes. Will definitely return.

Myself and my partner popped down for a wee lunch date on a Sunday. Upon arrival we were greeted and offered drinks by Jamie. Before being escorted to our table by Lauren. We checked out the menu and saw that there was definitely something for everyone on there. We also received a sheet of special dishes, neither of us was brave enough to try. Choosing instead to opt for the classics. For my starter I had the bruschetta which was delightful, the tomatoes were very juicy and my partner chose the soup. He was unsure on ordering as there was a Cajun flavour to the butternut squash and sweet potato soup, but he thought it was really nice. The girls who took our orders, Ashley, Leonie, Lexi and Rebecca, were lovely and very professional, checking in to make sure everything was ok for us when our dishes arrived and offering us more drinks. I chose the ship supreme for my main and thoroughly enjoyed it, the garlic cheese complimented the chicken and you could definitely taste the orange through the gravy and my veg was cooked to perfection. My partner had the fish and chips (the biggest piece of fish I have ever seen in a restaurant) and he enjoyed it even though he couldn't finish it. As we both have a sweet tooth we chose to go for the sticky toffee pudding, great ending to the meal and it was gone in seconds. We then took our drinks through to finish in the bar area. There was current music on throughout creating a nice and relaxing ambience, but not loud enough to drown out the conversation and laughter of the other visitors to the establishment. We enjoyed our experience so much we booked in for the following Sunday.

Delicious Cullen skink, macaroni cheese, steak pie and chicken + haggis pie. Even all the veg/potatoes on the side were as good, which is often rare! Good pints too and friendly service, will definitely be back.

Hadn't booked, but table of 6 was accommodated on a busy day. Food was amazing, but make sure you go hungry as portion sizes are great. Service was great, very well priced. Beautifully presented decor too. Great range of food options for all Can't wait to come back, when we are next up from Lancashire
