Love this pub, great find, opposite a petrol station. Love that it was the last pub that horse and carriages visited. Called the California because that's where people met to emigrate to California. Landlord/owner will tell you about the history. Lots of little snippets of history. Food amazing, very tasty. Friendly and cosy, will seek this pub out again if I'm in the area 😊
Cant recommend this place highly enough! We've been visiting this pub now for a couple of years, tried most meals on the menu, food always arrives quick and freshly cooked, every time we score it 10/10. Has as traditional pub feel, a good selection of drinks and reasonably priced considering the quality.
I must admit I wasn't expecting it due to the location (across the fuel station), but this place has great food and good service. The burger was really nice and I have eaten a lot of burgers, the sauce was amazing and the chips were very crispy. All in all I give it a 9.8 out of 10.
The meals we had were top notch, very well cooked and presented. Very tasty. Pork loin with leek and bacon was fantastic.
Stayed in campsite not far from this pub so visited one evening lovely little place and food was great and ar a reasonable price
Great service and a friendly atmosphere . The food was great for a Sunday lunch and we'll presented.
Nice little pub. Was convinced to try the pie and was not disappointed. Although having everyone clearing up to close before 9 kinda made us feel like we couldn't enjoy more of the decent selection of ales behind the bar. All in all, not a bad experience and would definitely like to revisit.
Went in for a quiet quick drink on a Sunday afternoon. A pub full of locals, dark, dogs allowed ( great) but dogs not allowed outside? Barman brilliant warm and genuine. Football was on and pool table available. Inexpensive round of drinks
We booked in as a party of 7 at short notice. Table was ready when we arrived and the meals where amazing. Great portion sizes followed by beautiful deserts.
The team couldn’t have been more welcoming and we are hoping to visit again before we leave for home
Lovely roast. Beef, pork vegetarian or salmon available.
Simple veg cauliflower cheese, swede and green beans but cooked very nice. Nice to have adult small adult or child portions available.
