We visited on Wednesday for my birthday treat , booking the spring afternoon tea. The service was exceptional from the moment we arrived. We were shown to our table and ordered drinks. The room was beautifully decorated and as the only people at 3pm it was like a private dining experience! The tea arrived , presentation was superb and the waitress explained what everything was on the menu. We savored every morsel and the staff were very attentive, bringing extra milk and hot water etc . The cheesecake and lamb burger were a firm favourite with us all , exquisite! By far the best afternoon tea we have ever experienced! Many thanks for a wonderful birthday !
Just been to treat my mum with Afternoon Tea!!
It was so delicious with lots of choice, just a shame
We couldn’t manage it all...until they brought out a take away box!!
Zoe was a fabulous waitress and very attentive!!
Will definitely be back with friends!!!
Beautiful surroundings, beautiful food and wonderful service!!!
"Historical, tranquil, beautiful; Open to the public all year round"
Indeed it is.
There is a car park on the opposite side of the road. There is an honesty box for paying your £5 per person entrance fee by cash or QR code linked transfer.
It is very well worth it. Magical. Memorable.
A beautiful place to spend time in nature. Take a picnic and sit and soak up the atmosphere and fresh air. Plenty of parking just across the road and honesty box to pay at the Abbey or QR code to pay on your phone.
A really peaceful, tranquil and well kept set of ruins. Lots of wildlife in evidence, especially birds. The tearoom is closed permanently, and there are no toilet facilities on-site. A lovely place for a picnic, or to while away a couple of hours, wandering at will. Entry is free, but there is an honesty box and also some well-produced guidebooks at the entrance to the abbey itself. Thoroughly recommended.
Interesting ruins made more picturesque with plants taking over . Set in beautiful surroundings with the car park just over the road . There is no charge to visit with an honesty box at the entrance for donations .
Extensive ruins of a huge Abbey. Privately owned so admission by honesty box,£5. Short walk through a field of sheep to reach the ruins, watch where you walk! Decent car park across the road, again an honesty box for £1. Mention of a tea room but didn't find it.
What a very interesting day. Still relying on an honesty box for entry, and for the guidebook, we paid, of course. It is very good at explaining what the various rooms would have been. Very well worth the visit, just a shame the tea room is no longer open.
Lovely little walk around the Abbey ruins. It wasn't the best of days weather wise, but I enjoyed the history of the place and the walk round.
Nice Abbey to walk around with other walks in the area. The Abbey has a honesty box for paying for the Abbey and carpark
Mid week visit before the school hols, very tranquil. Pick up the guide before you walk around, and it makes a lot more sense then.
Tranquil atmosphere, beautiful location and surroundings. The autumn colours added to the enchantment.
