Henry Wahner's Restaurant

Went there the first time in 2020. Food was amazing! The steaks were well seasoned and juicy, the German platter was plentiful and delicious. Went again in 2021 and same experience. Went today 1/22/22 and big difference. They were "out" of staple dishes, including Rouladen. Steak was ordered medium but half was rare and half was well. German platter was cold in the middle (clearly microwaved), the chocolate cake was dry and dense, lemon blueberry cake was still frozen. I am sure a lot has to do with limited staff but for a $150 bill, we were disappointed. I am willing to try again, but not anytime soon.

Beware!! We couldn’t cut through our prime rib! It was chewy and had no flavor. Waitress made an excuse that it was because we ordered it medium rare. We were very disappointed and sad. We were really excited to go. It used to be a great place. Big waste of money and time. Worst prime rib I’ve ever eaten.

My husband suggested this restaurant to my son & I. This was my 1st time here. Our waitress was excellent! She's definitely a people person. She spaced herself quite well checking on us. I ordered the grilled chicken dinner. Cooked to perfection. My husband & son ordered the prime rib dinner. Goodness! I have never seen prime rib that big before! Seriously! They are very large!. I have no doubt we shall be returning again sometime. The social distancing was also regarded of course. It was just a pleasant night out on the town.

Food was good and authentic to German recipes. Server, Linda, was very attentive and made our dining experience enjoyable. I hope that business will continue to improve and they will be able to extend their operating hours as it is hard for us to dine at the establishment without having a day off. Reminder, CASH ONLY.

I hadn't been here in probably 16 years, and I've been fantasizing about the Hungarian goulasch for about that long. I will never set foot here again. The softest, most tender memories were crushed when my plate was full of what was the toughest, chewiest, dryest meat I've put in my mouth since I ruined a steak not long ago. When I told our waitress, (who was fantastic!) she looked a bit surprised, but went to tell someone. When that woman came out, seemingly quite mad at me for having an issue with the beef chunks. She said no one had complained and I was the 1st. She also said something about it stewing for a week... which made me realize why the meat tasted as it did... I also found out that Henry sold the place many years ago, such great memories, I'll be keeping those close to my heart, because those will be what makes me happy. On the plus side, the spatzle was terrific, so was our waitress and the lady who seated us. My wife had the schnitzel, which was good, came with side salad and we got the white french dressing. Iceberg lettuce was mostly white and bitter, but the white french was so good it didn't matter. Overall it wasn't terrible, but that woman and what she said, totally ruined the experience for me.
