Popped in for a refreshing pint of Tonbridge Easy Street Pale ale having walked 6k from Tonbridge. For a Wednesday 5pm, nice to see a few people in the pub and outside in the pub garden. Didn't have any food, but the menu looked good. It's a proper country pub and whilst I was probably the only one who walked there, there was a generous sized car park that most used. A couple of nice ales on tap and a lovely classic fee to the pub with the low beams and tasteful decoration. Aim to pop back another time and try out the food, but there are also music/quiz/other events the pub seems to advertise on a regular basis.

What immediately struck us about our first, but will most certainly not be our last visit to the 'George' was the the convivial 'local's local' feel. We were reminded of a verse from the 'Cheers' theme... "Sometimes you wanna go Where everybody knows your name And they're always glad you came You wanna be where you can see Our troubles are all the same You wanna be where everybody knows your name" The delightful Sue, owner, host, order taker, amber nectar dispenser and general front-of-house heartbeat of the George made us welcome and already one of the family. Subsequent diners were greeted by name, as were their young 'uns and as were their dogs. It was a crisp sunny Sunday, perfect for taking the pooches for a brisk walk followed by a bevvy and possibly lunch. The menu is small but perfectly formed, ranging from tasty 'snacky' to our choice, a generous serving of a very good roast beef and vegetables, served promptly on warmed plates. We didn't have room for dessert but made it anyway, I had the hot treacle pudding with a lake of warm custard, & 'imself was persuaded to have the Chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. He scarfed the lot, declaring it "the best brownie he's ever eaten". He was enthusiastic about the Moretti lager as well, especially as I was the designated driver! The maestro behind these culinary delights is Allan, husband of Sue, who together own the quaint, beautifully restored and eclectically furnished George & Dragon Free House. We enjoyed our lunch immensely; our visit mercifully didn't break the bank and to sum it all up, no sooner were we home that I was browsing 'Rightmove' for houses for sale within dog-walking distance. Well, a girl can dream, cant she? Thank you Sue & Allan.

Really friendly pub with great service and great food. They have outside seating as well as inside with a little play area for kids. The portions of food were a good size. Car park available as well.

Highly recommend this pub. Your hosts Alan and Sue make you feel very welcome. Food is excellent (especially Sunday Lunch!) and a great selection of beers. We also recently hired the pub exclusively for a private event and it is the perfect venue for private parties. Alan and Sue made it very easy to organise and laid on excellent party food. A real gem of a find and worth considering for your next event.

Had a lovely lunch here. The veggies are cooked al dented so if you prefer them soft do say when ordering. I had a bitter shandy to drink which was made with a local brew in Tonbridge which was very morish. Shame I was designated driver!!!!! Plenty of parking & an olde worlde ambience inside. Live music is also played here. We booked a table for 3 & dog who was welcome & went on to look at the stain glass windows designed by Chegall in All Saints Church 3 mins drive away (also with plenty of parking).

Had a lovely Sunday lunch in this pub which has been recently refurbished and looks great. Service was friendly and although the roasts looked good I went for the steak and ale pie which was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. Couple of ales on, the local Tonbridge brewery beer I tried was in good condition. Everyone in our group from the toddlers to grandparents were very happy. The large garden should be good in the summer. There's a large car park and the pub is in a good location for the many walks you can do in the area. In fact the pub had a few walking guides for guests to browse through. Looking forward to coming back.
