Our friend Rick grew up in the rolling hills of High Peak and had a great little recommendation for us - The Swan Inn, Kettleshulme. He'd been coming in to this cute little pub for years and wanted us to try out the honest grub and cosy atmosphere that makes the place so popular with locals. When Rick was a child, he thought this was a plate of worms... It isn't very big at all - basically two little rooms filled with knick-knacks and nice old furniture. It was packed to the rafters on this Sunday lunchtime but they just about managed to squeeze our table of ten in! The menu at The
In my opinion the Swan is one of the best places to eat in the area, and by the area I mean Greater Manchester, North Cheshire and North West Derbyshire.
A beautiful little traditional pub which a sophisticated touch of modernism. Food is worthy of a Michelin Star. With it being a Sunday, I had the beef roast. The beef brisket was something else. One that’s up there with the best I’ve ever had.
What’s more, the service was beautifully done. We had a youngish girl who was really tentative, a really nice personality and an absolute credit to the place.
I highly recommend this place.
What a great experience.
Visited the pub a number of times for lunch.
Everything cooked to perfection. Quality was spot in and the detail in the flavour was there to taste.
Visibly the food looked great and watching the kitchen cook in open is something I loved.
The place is superbly clean and presentation is fantastic. Cannot fault most things on the menu!
Stayed here for 1 night with my husband and 8 month old baby. We were welcomed by a friendly lady in the bar who promptly showed us to our beautiful room. Everything was very nice, comfortable and clean. Dinner was AMAZING and breakfast was just as good. When we came down for breakfast they even put some little toys on the table for our son which we thought was such a lovely thought. We would definitely stay again.
It's the third time we've been to this lovely pub for dinner when visiting family in the area. The food is fantastic ( most recently we enjoyed the plaice, zarzuela and game pudding) the service is helpful, knowledgeable and friendly and the atmosphere is great. Worth the 20 minute drive.
Just eaten here for lunch, had the monkfish in curry sauce, which was possibly, the best fish dish I’ve ever eaten. Bursting with so many flavours. The service by the young waitress was also first class. Can’t recommend enough.
Wow! Just wow! Stayed ine night and its without doubt the best place we've stayed in for decades. Beautiful room, superbly equipped, great bed. Best night's sleep in years. Staff are lovely and friendly and welcoming. Food was beyond compare. Worth every penny and more.
Had Sunday lunch here today.....omg the beef was amazing....such a lovely little place not far from home. We sat outside to eat, Traffic was a bit busy, but it was a very sunny day, so that's OK, folks driving about having fun. The food was fantastic, price wise, more than I would normally pay for lunch, but sometimes paying that bit more is well worth it.....thanks to the chief and the cooking people.....it was a truly awesome meal. I would highly recommend 👌
Bouillabaisse was absolutely top notch as was my wife’s whole plaice. Big portions too - we were stuffed and (unusually) couldn’t make room for dessert! Some nice local cask ales on too. Would absolutely come back when next in the area.
Luxury quilt and bedding with super comfy mattress. Beautiful ensuite. First class touches in our room. Top notch food in restaurant. Highly recommend
We had a lovely and reasonably priced meal there. Worth the long trip.
