Stag And Thistle Restaurant And Bar

We were at the stag & thistle for afternoon tea and it was brilliant. The place is lovely and cosey. The sandwiches and cakes were so good. All fresh. The service from the staff was great, very funny and friendly. We got all the cakes we didn't manage to finish away with us in a box. If recommend and will be back.

It's nice having a gourmet pub that you can have an enjoyable dining experience in. It's looking great since the refurb and it has a really cool outdoors bit that you can sit in with heated kind of shacks that you can dine in. They also do takeaway if you want to have nice food in the house instead (or cooking for people when you're culinary challenged) although i do think you're missing in the experience and atmosphere of dining out. The Glaswegian owner is lovely and has top quality service, the craft beers and wines are excellent and the price was good too. My only negative is that the food was too salty for my preferences, however i would happily return and would just mention that i don't like salty food and i no that with the service they brought, that they would listen to me and would reduce or eliminate the salt they put in my dish as there service was really good and they are really accommodating. If you are in the area then i would give give the Stag & Thistle a try as it would really add to your experience of Kilmaurs or make the highlight of your weekend for those that live in the village of Kilmaurs already.

Visited here for lunch. . Cullen skunk was both delicious & filling ..our waitress Charlene is very attentive & friendly. A lot is in progress here for the outdoors at back of pub: beach huts which seat 4 comfortable with light & heating & sockets to play your own music ( couple of blankets if needed)There is going to be street food sold & music to be hosted. Best thing in Kilmaurs for a long time.🍹 ☕🍽️ 🍧 🦌

With the weather unexpectedly becoming dry and warm, our visit to the Stag was eventful, with the beer garden being very busy, there was a delay in our courses being served, but I can say we were kept informed and the management took the opportunity to make us feel welcome with on the house drinks served for our patience, the starters were fresh, tasty and delicious with each of us sampling a different plate. Our mains were just as impressive with fresh burgers, tempura chicken and other choice food that I cannot quite remember, all in all a good dining experience and will look fwd to a visit in the near future.
