The Urbanist

The Urbanist very kindly welcomed our parent council meeting last night. We appeared without prior warning as we didn't have venue for our last minute meeting! The manager and staff member working couldn't have been more helpful. I'm sure this will be a perfect venue for us for future meetings. Really impressed!

This was our second time visiting The Urbanist. The first time was a disaster. We decided to give it another bash as we had heard there was new chefs (last time was over a year ago). I have to say we were not disappointed at all. Food and service was fantastic. The Urbanist also offers Bluelights discount. So a cheeky 20% off our bill also. We will definitely be back.

My husband and I have just had a meal off the new menu and really enjoyed it. The service was second to none, not pushy, not feeling ignored, just right. Prices are not ott either, so definitely not breaking the bank. To be honest, we have had disappointing visits on a couple of occasions, so were a bit apprehensive about eating here again, but there was no need, this time it was excellent. Well done guys! ps Only one wee suggestion is to have some heavy (and maybe some stout, as we overheard this requested, remember a lot of auld yins around this area) and the new beers don't cut it. 😂Just a little niggle though! 😉

Great Meal, when we phoned up to book a table and explained we had a wheel chair with us so she sat us at a big table with plenty of room for other guests to get by. Staff were very attentive and made sure we were ok and had everything we needed throughout our visit, one of meals was lamb and it was a bit tough for my mother in law (she has problems chewing so that was our mistake and not the restaurant, the Lamb was fine for us) so we asked to change it for her for the fish and this was not a problem and it came very quickly. The fish looked very nice with big flakes of fish. Sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake to finish. With the wheel chair we used their lift which was easy to operate and assisted by the staff holding doors ope for us. Once again an Overall very enjoyable evening and top marks to the Staff for being very helpful and courteous. Will definitely return

We have been a few times beforebut, looks like they have changed the menu, and the food was delish. I had Greek salad as starter and honestly have not tasted anything more flavourful. Katsu curry had pickled cucumber which gave it a different level. The other 2 meals were excellent also, one being a steak which was reported as great. The prices have also changed, more affordable. Will return more often.

Father's day lunch. We had a brilliant time and can only commend the staff on dealing amazingly with a difficult and challenging day. The rudeness of some patrons to the staff was a disgrace and completely uncalled for. Such people should be barred! We have nothing but good things to say about our experience and in fact having a longer wait between courses allowed us to have a good catch up, laughs and stories as a family celebrating the Fathers in our lives. The bar also had some games the kids could play as well as colouring in their menus. My recommendation to those who whinged, get off your phones and tablets and actually talk to each other! This is the second Father's day lunch we have had there as well as several other general meal visits and we love the place. Can't forget to mention the attentive staff who couldn't apologise enough for the issues out with their control and being polite and calm in the face of rude arrogant people. Thank you to all the staff, you are great at what you do and don't let these people take the shine off that.

Amazing food. Good portions. Car park in back. Table and chairs at front and rear. (Barbecues in the summer at the back.) Very polite and helpful staff. Wheelchair access at the rear via an elevator. I personally had a very good experience at this restaurant. (I'm going again for my family Christmas dinner. Already booked....can't wait.👍🏻😄) ADDITIONAL: Went for my Christmas Dinner. I ordered beer battered haddock with hand-cut chips. I recieved battered cod with oven chips. Waited a long time too. I will NOT be going back.
