Review Hunter's Hall Inn Restaurant And Bar - Kingscote

We ate at the pub restaurant and had a nice evening. The food was good, but the portions were quite small. The service was great and we were well looked after. The place was very quiet and rather cold, they had a stove which was not in use. Could do with fixing it to warm the place up.

Celebrated a birthday here with 9 of us in the party. Made very welcome & the staff could not have been more helpful. Good Sunday lunch menu with the food brought out in good time & was enjoyable. Not fancy, but good pub food at a very reasonable price. We brought a birthday cake along, and the staff were very happy to supply us with plates and a knife. Thanks so much for a wonderful time.

A non researched stop after visiting nearby Newark Park, that turned out to be a lovely experience and hope to return. The car park and outside needs a bit of attention but more than made up for by the service, characterful surroundings, food and vibe here. Great guinness too! Very dog friendly (who loved her dinner!) and a great spot for Sunday lunch.

Called in for lunch this week. Food good and reasonably priced. Used a Blue Light/Defence Discount card for 20% off food bill. Recommended

Very friendly welcome from Chloe who later served us at the bar with another very pleasant dark haired lady. Chatty, friendly dog friendly locals. We had a lovely evening meal starting with a delicious sharing platter washed down with a couple of reasonably priced bottles of Malbec. Very comfortable bed, loads of hot water for a nice soak in the bath. Very clean room. The morning staff at breakfast were are so friendly and helpful, made our rotties day with a couple of sneaked out of the kitchen sausages as we were on purpose the last to have breakfast. All in all a really nice cosy night away for a surprise birthday treat, will definitely return.

Great value for money. Good location for touring the area. Rooms a little tired but not an issue, comfortable bed and pillows.

The room was excellent. I was in room 9 which was more like a mini suite than a room, with a separate twin bedroom and a sitting/TV/work area in the middle. It couldn't have been easier to access, being as it was on the ground floor and accessible from the car park. The bathroom was clean and well equipped with soap etc. There was a smell of bleach but I really didn't notice it after a few minutes. I ate in the bar on both evenings. My steak was good and the lasagne I had the second night was even better. Nice staff too. There was a choice of ales, Guinness, Madri, Peroni and Moretti. Internet access needs attention. The Cloud wifi which you can sign up for was largely useless. I couldn't even upload a few photos without changing over to my phone hotspot and using that. This isn't a solution either, as 4G was very weak in that area too.

Nice time. The food is clearly out-of-a-packet, but it was a pleasant meal in austere times for all hostelries.

Family birthday lunch pit today for 11 of us from 3yrs old to 75yrs old, 1 vegetarian and two children's meals oh and we brought my sisters dog too! Two large tables in the small first bar area which were great for us allowing the children to have a bit of space. Comprehensive menu with something for everyone. Food ordered and arrived in good time, well presented and good value for money. Both myself and my adult son had the salmon fishcakes which were delicious, it came with a salad which was over dressed and with peppers which I don't like - I never think they should be included in a side salad, stick to lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber! But that's on me not them. The children had desserts which came quickly and looked nice. Plenty of people coming and going. Lots of room in the car park and a good disabled spot. We've eaten and drank here many times over the last twenty years and this was definitely a good meal - unfortunately we haven't always been as lucky for many reasons. We would however recommend it as it's staff are normally pleasant and helpful, food range good, it's easy to find and park, good range of beer and wine oh and they do a doggie menu for your furry companions! In the summer the garden is a real draw especially if you have children!

Went for lunch, it's a large pub, under Greene King, so their usual menu of mainly pub classics, but quite a large menu. The food was good and the service was great

Had the INDULGENT BURGER which has bbq burnt ends on and Camembert on and comes with onion rings and fries, was absolutely amazing, nice and hot and really tasty, well priced too. Didn’t take too long to be brought out. Good menu and staff are very thorough too. Cannot fault, would definetly come here again, looks like it’s dog friendly fit all you dog owners and even has a dog menu

5 of us plus a child visited on 29th August (Bank Holiday Monday). It was a really hot day and we managed to secure a table outside. The first disappointment came when they had no Prosecco and offered the alternative of a white wine spritzer (watered down wine!!!) when we ordered our food we did 3 separate consecutive transactions and we were advised there was up to an hour and a half wait-which was fine as we thought we'd be able to enjoy the sun with a few drinks before eating. After around 30 minutes 3 out of the 5 meals arrived with the waitress commenting that there must be a second part of the order following soon. Our friends started to eat their food as we didn't want it to go cold waiting for ours...they then finished their food before ours had come out. Granted we had been advised of the wait time, but we did not expect to have to wait and watch our friends eat and then finish their meals whilst we waited for ours to come. Eventually our food came (around 30 minutes after the previous meals were ordered). I had ordered a special mixed grill and when cutting into the 'rare' steak I found it cooked through and dry. I considered keeping quiet and being a typical Brit but decided as I had paid £16.49 for the meal I probably should out of principal and asked to waitress to have the steak changed. She took my plate away and by the time it came back my partner had now finished his food, leaving me to eat alone! The steak was cooked to my taste but this was the only good thing about it. The steak was a lot smaller than before and 80% fat, the original plate had garlic bread on it whereas the one that came back didn't! I asked to speak to the manager as I felt the service was unacceptable. The manager didn't bother to come out (despite being on site) and a supervisor came out to see what the issue was. I explained what the issues were and asked her to rectify it. I decided to eat the non fatty bits of the steak along with the pieces of lamb and chicken on my plate as by this time I was hungry and didn't want to wait any longer! The supervisor came back (bringing my garlic bread which was also smaller and looked like someone had taken a bite out of it!) and gave us a speech about how busy they were and how there were 2 tills in use which was why our food came out at different times (I refuse to accept this as we ordered 30 seconds after our friends who did 2 separate transactions yet theirs came out together!!) She apologised for the state of the steak and offered a refund on my meal-which we accepted. The manager (who was unavailable to deal with my complaint) processed my refund and was very blasé not really caring that I was dissatisfied with my food and the service. To be fair, the food I did eat was okay but I wouldn't ever go back again after the terrible experience.

Went for lunch with my Aunt. Service was friendly and quick. Food was delicious, my Aunt thought risotto was the best she had ever eaten, my wagyu beef burger was divine. Eton mess sundae was yummy. Lovely food great service and not too expensive either. Highly recommended

The food was spectacular. One of the best roasts I've had. I had the beef rib and it just fell off the boan, it was really lovely. Will for sure be going back. The food also came put surprisingly quickly. We booked a table for 2pm for 7 of us. I really really wanted to give 5 starts however the manager I assume was really skatty when taking the food order. I felt uncomfortable as e was huffing and puffing, wouldn't let us pay separately as it was "easier for him to put it on one booking" pain in the ass for us when trying to pay but hay ho. Also we were charged for 4 extra portions of potatoes (£1 each) but only received 2. We paid it anyway as it was only £2 and we were really impressed with the food.

Went here for my sisters 16th on the 28th may. There were 7 of us and 1 was my baby. I booked the table through Facebook and I informed them I would need a highchair. When we arrived. We were left unattended to. We found a table on our own that had reserved and decided it would be ours as there was no one to talk to. It was very busy and very under staffed for a Saturday night. There was no highchair as requested so we had to go on a Hunt. The bar staff were hardly at the bar. When the food finally arrived no one really enjoyed it. The meat seems either dry or tough. After the food some of the party heard someone say the owner had gone to pick up the chef!! So who was cooking our food and Is that why it wasn't very good. Overall disappointed by our experience at hunters hall. Such a shame as we are only in Tetbury and would have used again.

I have awarded five stars, having been a customer for some years and I thought it high time to post a review, following an unfortunate experience at a rival restaurant, old nelson, stratford road, who served my friend, who is a vegetarian, a dish containing BEEF, when a veggie dish was ordered and even said so on the receipt and not only that, but both the management and brewers fayre, couldn't care less and refused to comment, only to replace the dish, already started, because diner was unaware, with the original, now contaminated by meat, veg. had I come to hunters hall, like I usually do, this would never had happened , but rest assured, it was a one off and I shall be returning to hunters hall from now on.

Restaurant empty and half the menu not available. Main meal was ok but dessert took forever and we could actually hear the kitchen staff ringing for service but no one came so the puddings were not very warm when they arrived. Toilets dreadful, no soap and pooh around the bowl in of the toilets and on the actual seat in another. Would not go back again.

So disappointed with my experience today. Was a party of 16 all who had pre ordered. My food was ok. My daughters when inedible. This was however taken off the bill but we were over charged a HUGE amount so didn't make a difference. Huge wait for puddings and half came out they finished and the others came out. Double charged for items. Manager is an absolute waste of space. Not interested in sorting anything out. Happy to let his overworked staff run around while he poorly ran the bar. 45 min wait for drinks. Which we were then double charged for because we chased them up. Our waitress Nat was however fabulous and done her best. I will not be going back while it's under the management it is.

Me and my partner had Sunday roast dinners at the hunters hall yesterday. We didn't book so we're please when there was a table free straight away. After ordering our food was with us in no time and it was gorgeous!!! Just what we needed on a dreary Sunday. All members of staff were really helpful and welcoming. And desert was exceptional. Would defiantly recomend.

Thank you for absolutely delicious food in a friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble and the food and service could not be faulted. We are disappointed to only be stopping for one night but are excited to wake up for breakfast with yourselves.

Went with my family including parents (7 of us) and made use of the sunday roast facebook offer and have left feeling i have somehow robbed them for what i paid for our meal. I had the beef rib and it was superb. I even had the rib bone (+another) wrapped up to take home to keep my dogs happy too. Can't fault anything about our experience and will definitely be returning even if we have to pay full price. Many thanks to the hunters hall and its team:)

Usually very good food and service however on the last two occasions we have visited have experienced issues. Requested a high chair when I made the table booking, arrived and they said they didn't have any which caused problems for us. Also ordered the hunters chicken but it didn't have any BBQ sauce with it as described. 2nd visit asked not to have coleslaw and coleslaw turned up. Minor things but needs more attention to detail

The restaurant was empty when we arrived to celebrate a friends birthday, however our table had not been set and we had to ask for cutlery after our food had arrived. The service was painfully slow, several dishes on the menu were unavailable and the restaurant was freezing. As for the ladies toilets....they were disgusting and had clearly not been checked or cleaned for sometime. Greatly disappointed.

We went with our family and it was the worst meal we have had at the Hunters Hall the children's meals were inedible and some of the adult meals were cold we have been regulars here for some time and were frankly very disappointed

Took the opportunity to make the most of the sun today sitting in the gardens and enjoying lunch. The food was quick and very well presented. We had sandwiches which were generously filled and super tasty. Great prices for great food x
