Went for dinner with 6 others. I had the steak. It was a good size and perfectly cooked and very tasty. An excellent meal. I think my fellow diners all enjoyed their food, too. Service was just right, accurate and just attentive enough without unnecessary intrusion. Highly recommended.
We regularly visit the Anchor, and the new managers have had a very positive impact. The food is excellent, and the interior brighter and welcoming. A warm log fire welcomes you on the darker Winter nights. The location is terrific! My one wish would be a couple more good real ales, but one ( usually Bitter and Twisted) is better than none!
Called in with my husband for lunch whilst on holiday. The pub has a nice cosy ambience and we were looking forward to trying
the food. We both ordered the Chowder at £20,00 each, what a disappointment. The dish has very little fish and the soup very little flavour, ok if sweetcorn is your bag, but at the price definitely not one to recommend. Disappointing!!!!!!
Lovely pub/restaurant on the estuary. We went in based on a recommendation from our campsite. We called in 7 of us and a dog without booking and they managed to serve us. The food was fantastic and service was great. No complaints and we called in again a few days later and all the food was great expect one of our dishes wasn’t as good as it was a couple of days earlier. However overall I would recommend this place and when we’re up again I will be calling in!
To be honest the only reason rooms only got 4* is due to decor being bit dated and shower not very powerful plus could not tilt shower head as kept falling down. Other than that... no complaints overall. Friendly staff and lovely food. 🙂
Great food. Seafood chowder looked pricey for a bowl that looked smaller than expected but so good and filling. Couldn't lift the spoon without getting prawns/octopus/fish/scallops. So much more than I expected
Stayed at the Anchor a number of times, couldn't miss the makeover, looks good. Rooms clean and fresh, food lovely especially the breakfast. Staff friendly and efficient. Looking forward to my next visit.

Good food but a great shame it was served on cold plates So my food was cold within a couple of mouthfuls. Service was good but i asked if the electric fire could give off heat not just a coal effect, and was told i dont know...not the best answer.
Myself and family popped in for dinner tonight unfortunately we didn’t book a table but the chap (owner I think ) managed to get us a table for 6.
What can I say restaurant, staff, food, and the owner was second to none it was a fantastic experience and a great way to finish our holiday.
We are planning on a week’s break to celebrate our daughter’s 40th birthday in late September and this will be our restaurant off choice.
Set on the edge of an estuary with fabulous views. The rooms are small, but they do have on-suite facilities with them. Very clean and well maintained. The food is absolutely delicious, it's no wonder this place has a good reputation.
