Called in on Sunday lunchtime for a takeaway sandwich and wow, what a place!! Bought an egg roll and a beef and horseradish plus 2 x sticky toffee muffins to feed myself, my wife and our 2 kids and we were stuffed!! Amazing quality food, fresh and generous helpings of fillings. Lovely and helpful couple serving. Highly recommend calling in.
This tearoom offers fantastic food (try the rarebit & hot beef baguette!!). Really nice ambience in the room with a hearty fire burning & warm welcome, cakes & coffee really nice too. Could do with some comfier chairs & elbow room is a bit limited but well- worth a visit.
Enjoyed delicious flapjack, scone and coffee served by friendly, efficient staff. However the experience was spoilt when we decided to get 2 cans of coke to take away- at a cost of £1.85 per can! They were in a well stocked fridge which had no prices displayed- now we know why!
We have been frequent customers of the Lunesdale Bakery Café for many years and were very sad to call in last year, only to find it closed. Staying at Kirkby Lonsdale again this week, we were delighted to find it reopened. My husband had breakfast there earlier in the week and today we called in for a light lunch. The café was busy, but a member of staff quickly found us a table and wiped it down. The menu is quite extensive, everything freshly prepared and cooked on the premises.
I ordered a cheese and pickle sandwich, and what a sandwich it was! Loaded with cheese and pickle and accompanied by a lovely salad, not just a garnish, but half a large platter of salad leaves, feta cheese, pasta salad, baby tomatoes, peppers, onions and beetroot. It was delicious and very filling.
The service was good, the waiting staff were all young kids, obviously learning the job, but trying their best. The owner seemed to be doing the prep in the kitchen with another person whilst also managing front of house. He's had problems finding the necessary staff, he said.
I hope everything works out for them, as this café (and the shop at the front) is a little gem!
Nice friendly bakery with a great selection of breads and cakes on offer. There are sandwiches to take away. The cafe area at the back of the shop is rather small and easily crowded but cosy rather than uncomfortable. The open fire is a welcome site on a chilly day. Good service and nice food & drinks on offer. Pricing is slightly higher as Kirkby is a tourist market but still reasonable.
Lovely helpful staff and superb produce. Their restaurant/tea room hasn't reopened yet following Covid, so it's takeaway only. But there is a lovely square about 50 metres from the store with rain cover and seats.
Had a bacon and egg butty which had two eggs, 3 bacon and a soft roll to contain and mop up the delicious bacon and egg runniness. Highly recommended.
Nice bakery with cafe at the back and outside seating. Good breakfast but very big. Could have shared! Nice pastries and cakes. Staff friendly. It can get very busy and the cafe can fill-up quickly in the for breakfast and lunch. Well behaved dogs are welcome
Fantastic. Everything to tempt you from a large selection of cakes and pastry, to home made scones, bread.
The wild bore sausage & bacon barmcakes are THE best I've ever had. Well cooked and presented.
Wunderful stuff.
I can resist everything, except temptation 🤤
Had a wild-boar sausage and cheese bap and it was awesome. Great choice of patisseries, pies and pasties. They even sell their own flour of various sorts.
Out for a drive with friends and noticed on our advanced planning that this place opened early so I made it my duty to make it the place of choice for a breakfast butty and a cuppa!!
I was intrigued by the cakes and sandwiches on offer but will need to try another time and I had already packed the picnic!!
Was fairly priced on the higher side but the sausage and egg butty was huge with 2 eggs and plenty of sausage ...
Can't wait to return ...
