What a gem of a pub. A lovely warm welcoming pub that oozes charm. The staff are a delight, great choice of ales, lagers, ciders and bottled beers including German import beer.
Food is top notch. I had the pork mixed grill and it was as gorgeous as it looked. My friends had chicken pie (a proper full pastry pie baked in a meat cooks dish.), fish and chips (huge fish portion perfectly battered), vegetarian Thai curry (nicely spiced with generous portions), mushroom burgers (huge, these tasted and looked stunning) and a good old quality steak (again dominant portion with fantastic home cooked crispy chips).
A couple of us had deserts and those that didn't soon wished they has as the ordered Eton mess and lemon sorbets again tasted and looked amazing.
I live 3 hours drive away and it says something about an establishment when you honestly state I would drive back again for dinner.
Had another fantastic meal at The Bay Horse last night. The food was excellent, but, then we've never had a bad meal there. There is a good selection of dishes to choose from ranging from the traditional pub grub to the more exotic, so there is something for everyone. Would thoroughly recommend it to anyone....and I constantly do! All of the staff are great and make you feel very welcome and are all very attentive. We'll be back very soon!
We had a family visit today for the carvery.
The food was SPECTACULAR!
The service and atmosphere was simply wonderful!
We cannot wait to return!
Thank you so much for your hospitality!
Lovely pub with fantastic food. Staff were highly accommodating, and super friendly.
Recommend the prawn starter, and honey duck salad. We will be back when we visit again!
Had lunch with friends here last weekend but have been many times with family and friends. Always receive a warm welcome and food is delicious and good value for money. We will be back soon.
Popped in for lunch after a recommendation, whilst on holiday in the area,we were not disappointed, a lovely welcome. Excellent food. We will definitely be back.
Lovely food, very helpful staff, and lots of room for dining. We'd booked this time, having been turned away twice before for not having booked - but this time the dining area was almost empty.
The whole pub seems dedicated to eating - was a little disappointing not to see a more 'village pub' area in the bar. Felt it was a place aimed mostly at diners, with little atmosphere to welcome the local villagers.
Saying this, we were there on a Friday night for dinner, so it did what we wanted at that time.
Lovely meal with really friendly service. Live music (guitarist) was a bonus too. Great evening.
We visited just before Christmas to celebrate a 60th birthday, and had a lovely time. Friendly service with a bit of a giggle, fabulous food and a relaxed setting was exactly what we were after.
Lovely meal. I actually paid for the wrong table and realised when I got home. I rang and was immediately reimbursed. Only negative comment would be that it was very noisy in the dining room. There were two large groups in and the noise did echo which made it difficult for us to chat. Otherwise a nice night with helpfully staff.
We are staying in Winton so to have such a fabulous pub on your doorstep is amazing.
Eaten here twice so far and our meals have been beyond expectations.
We had the pork and chorizo on our first visit. Sorry we ate it before taking a photo. Was possibly the best meal ever!
Today we had lunch in the beer garden. It was delicious.
Sunday carvery was good reasonably priced. Friendly service, though slightly forgetful !! Good location.
