The squid starter was lovely, crispy, light batter and juicy squid. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection and so big I asked for a doggy bag! Lovely service and great views.

Great place to eat with very understanding staff for food intolerances. Only gave a 4 due to limited menu choice. Otherwise would strongly recommend.

Highest quality food and seafood in stunning picturesque setting. Seafood platter and fillet steak were excellent. it's worth the price for great food. Limited menu but they just cook the best local quality produce and present it beautifully. Great friendly staff here as everywhere in Orkney.

We really enjoyed our 5 night stay here recently. The hotel is situated approx. 10 minutes drive out of Kirkwall on a hill overlooking Scapa beach. The whole hotel is tastefully decorated and is spotlessly clean. Our bedroom (which was cleaned daily) had a large ensuite shower with a huge walk in shower and complimentary toiletries. The restaurant and bar area has a large balcony area and the views over Scapa bay are simply stunning. Our stay came with bed and breakfast but the food is so good that we also chose to eat in every night. The staff in the hotel were really friendly and so helpful and polite and bent over backwards to help us with any queries. Orkney itself is the most beautiful and friendly place. highly recommend both Orkney and in particular this hotel.

Amazing location looking out onto the water. Food and service are equally as good, with a well designed menu and a good selection of drinks. I had the local beers which complimented the food and a wee dram to finish.

Returned after five years. Astonishing: the rooms are in exact the same immaculate condition as if the time could not leave any mark on them. Well appointed, comfortable and quiet. The restaurant is as convincing as it was five years ago. Nicely presented dishes of high quality with well sourced produce prepared to a high standard. Wine list is quite vast with lots to choose from - only thing missing is beer from the tap as it is sold by the bottle only.

Going to the Foveran is always a treat. You feel so special from the moment you walk in. There is usually only one veggie main course option but I am confident they would meet any dietary requirements.

I had dinner in the restaurant, but didn't stay in the accommodation. Overall, based on my experience, I'd suggest if you are a steak person, you should prioritise a meal here. I had the starter special of lobster cocktail, which was a lobster instead of prawn but otherwise pretty traditional approach to prawn cocktail. For main, I had the Foveran fillet steak, which was served perfectly rare, as ordered, and really pretty excellent. Side of potato was great, half crispy, half boiled. Dessert was the lemon posset, which was lovely but a little sweet for me. A cup of tea came with a lovely little selection of fudge and shortbread. Wine list was good, but not extensive.
