We visited this fabulous place twice, by good fortune happening on two music practice sessions. I did a few drawings from which this linocut print is derived. Don't miss it if you are in Kirkwall, it's the real Reel thing!

Great selection of Gluten free and vegan cakes, good quality coffees, a fairly wide range of whiskies, gins both Orkney and not. Vegetarian and gluten free soup. Gluten free toasties and homemade paninis available! Also baked potatoes and basic salads. Staff friendly and helpful and will understand you with a minimum amount of English! Can be madly busy. Plus an outside seating area available in summer. Local musical events available free or ones with tickets. Everything in one space and right at the heart of Kirkwall!!

Always a friendly place with helpful staff. Good range of foods and drinks for lunches. Saturday nights see a variety of local musicians come together to perform traditional music. No two nights are exactly the same as you never know who is going to turn up.

Good toasted sandwiches at lunch, but you'll be lucky to get a seat as this place is so central. If you can, stop by one of the live music nights. Reasonably good beer selection too.
