staff very welcoming, food incredibly high standard, lovely rooms and a lovely surprise of a doggie welcome bag. the treats were unusually loved by our very fussy doggy. would definitely recommend and would definitely return thankyou so much to the Kirkwall Hotel.
I have stayed here a couple of times. A wonderful old fashioned Victorian building by Kirkwall harbour, ideal for the town centre and overnighting when making ferry connections. The rooms and public spaces have been recently modernised. My only regret is this modernization, but clean, comfortable and warm.

We arrived very late at noon and asked if we could have lunch here. The nice gentleman who served us made an exception, and we were treated to fish and chips. Very good quality, lovely atmosphere in the hotel's own restaurant. We can highly recommend it.
