The food is always lovely at the Kings Head. Good portions & great service & good value prices as well. The carvery was beautiful & their steak pie is to die for Lovely place, would strongly recommend to try it if you haven't been before.
We had a superb two course special for 9.95 each. Everything from the friendly, helpful service to the huge portions of tasty food was amazing. Haven't eaten here for years after it went downhill with a previous owner but would not hesitate to recommend The King's Head to family and friends. Husband even said it was the best sweet chilli chicken he'd ever tasted! Can't wait to return
Visited tonight for food and was not disappointed. Toad in the Hole was amazing, loved the bubble and squeak that came along with it.
The Biscoff Cheesecake was absolutely perfect, will never not be tempted by one.
Definitely coming back again, fantastic first time dining here and found the whole experience wonderful!
Gem of a pub in a lovely village. Staff are always really friendly and never had a bad meal, even as a vegan there's plenty of options.
Pub quiz on a Tuesday night is always a good night, got to get in early for a table but that's an excuse for an extra pint 🍺
BEWARE OF PARKING FINES! I visited recently to celebrate my Mam's birthday and received a parking fine through the post today. I rang the pub and they were very helpful. Apparently it's been newly introduced, there are signs in the car park and inside the pub (although none of us spotted them!) The first hour is free and if you are planning to stay longer you need to input your reg no. at the host station. Again, none of us noticed this. I was told on the phone that I could use a bank statement to prove I was a customer and appeal the charge which I will be doing immediately. Thank you for your help but you DEFINITELY need bigger and more prominent signs! Overall the meal was very nice and we had a good night, but who would expect a pub car park to not be free?
What a lovely chance find! Having arrived in the area yesterday, we went into Lanchester to look for a takeaway or somewhere to eat in, and which was also dog-friendly. The King's Head looked nice so we went on on the off-chance and so pleased that we did! A wonderfully warm and welcoming atmosphere, excellent service and truly splendid food. We shall definitely visit again before the end of our holiday.
Only had a Sunday lunch menu on for Sunday with the exception of fish n chips when we only wanted a light lunch, so we had a starter each, however, they did accommodate our request for just a bowl of chips for one of our youngens. Starters we had were really nice, (soup prawn cocktail n garlic shrooms) drinks were reasonably priced, service was ace, friendly and professional. The place is a very nice place to sit in and in a canny decent corner of country Durham. All in all, we all enjoyed our lite lunch.
First time here for a meal. I had the bacon cheeseburger, so nice. My wife had the loaded nachos and there was loads of them. We then had a dessert each and they are huge as well. I got the chocolate orange cheesecake, so nice. Other half got the Belgium waffle. Highly recommend a visit.
A well established and much frequented Gastopub, located within easy walking distance of the village centre, with its own carpark, providing enough spaces to not cause any concerns on getting a slot. It has a full and varied menu, catering to the vast majority of tastes, which is well prepared and served by friendly and welcoming staff.
Called in with friends on Saturday mid-afternoon for something to eat. Very friendly staff lovely atmosphere and amazing food. Will definitely be calling again when we are visiting friends in Durham
Lunch with family. Lovely food, wide menu +kids. Comfortable recommended for familys. Very good service.
The pub is lovely and so is the food, went for sunday dinner but the portion size of the meat was very small and no filling
