THE best roast dinner! Service and the food was amazing, it’s an hour away from us but will definitely be booking back! Can’t fault it

Absolutely amazing food! Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! Went for Sunday lunch and this was honestly the best I've ever had. £21 for the beef roast, and it is absolutely worth every penny. If you live in the area or happen to be passing through, take the time to eat at the punch bowl as it it incredible!

We stayed at the Punch Bowl on 18 September. We had given an arrival time in time for dinner at 1930 but whilst driving south from Edinburgh it became apparent that we would be arriving some time after this. A telephone call from the M6 was answered quickly and we were told that there would be no problem.
On arrival we were met by Helen who welcomed us warmly and showed us to our rooms. A quick wash and brush up and we went down to the bar for a much needed drink served by Stefan, Doombar on tap no less. We were served a first rate meal which could not be faulted. We took some time over the meal but we never felt that we were taking too long and delaying the closing of the dining room.
The rooms were immaculate and we all had an excellent night in most comfortable beds. Breakfast in the morning was something that would be hard to beat. So much choice and all cooked to perfection.
The Punch Bowl is hidden away in the midst of countryside but it is really well worth seeking it out and we cannot recommend it more strongly. Excellent decor, cheerful and friendly staff, perfect food - what more could you want….and on top of all this so reasonably priced. We cannot wait to find an excuse to return. One of our favourite country pub-restaurants. It is a regular watering hole for us, when we venture out on the bicycles. Excellent food and great choices for all tastes. Lovely décor and a great location.
Only area of improvement is that they need to serve better coffee. Very limited choice of coffees. Otherwise its an excellent place in the countryside.

First time we had eaten there and I have to say it was a fabulous evening... It was a lovely atmosphere despite the whole august day being dull and drizzly, it was buzzing and warm.... The food was top notch.. we paid out and had the cote de boeuf... Beautifully cooked... Service was great... Lovely Bistro quality..Good choice of Gins at the Bar also.. 👍👌

Lovely pub with spacious rooms, there are both inside and outside eating areas with a varied menu. Breakfast had lots of choice and the staff are really friendly. Would definitely visit again when in the area
