The Royal Pug

Really friendly pub in Leamington. A group of 8 of us stopped by on Tuesday night for the Pug quiz. If you're looking to take part, it is ideal to make a booking. I called the venue 11 times throughout the day of the quiz, to book a table but got no answer, so when we did show up we had to sit outside and couldn't hear a thing that was going on unfortunately. The atmosphere of the pub is really nice and friendly, being Leamington Spa you get all the calm wannabe "edgy" people so you know you're safe...lol The food was mediocre, it was taco Tuesday, three tacos for £10 , they looked good and the people in my group enjoyed them, I had the tacos, though they were freshly cooked, the toppings and presentation just didn't quite cut it. It was a good night overall, I'll return again but avoid the food.

We dropped in on spec & managed to snag a table that was reserved for later on in the day. The place was rammed with groups of friends,families,couples,children & and dogs, but the atmosphere was so relaxed & the background music was very jolly 😊. I had roast beef with a side of mash spud & hubby had the roast pork. Due to a large group next to us, we had a longer than usual wait (hence 4 stars) & normally this would make me very unhappy, but because this was addressed by 2 members of staff who came to speak to us - it was OK. Tbh, the wait was so worth it as the food was absolutely delicious 😋. Will be back......

The place gives a very traditional feel, but if you are up for dinner be prepared to shout across the table to be heard as there are many people in the evening and noise level is quite high. We were quite unlucky with some event going on at the same time and as a result the chef did not follow instructions very carefully - we got all three burgers well done instead of one. The fish and chips is delicious, though!
