We visited as a group of six on a Thursday evening. I am glad that we booked a table as it was rammed. Really good quality food. Good service. Felt it was a bit expensive but it was nice and everywhere seems to charge more than you had expected...

Cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If you haven’t been please sit down and ask yourself “Why? Why am I depriving myself of one of the most delicious meals I will ever indulge in?”

In short, the food is simply superb - flavours from India I had not tasted before. I cannot recommend it enough.

Fantastic food at Tharavadu, we had the soft shell crab and prawn curry, both were great. Good level of spice and very tasty. Paratha was the pick of the sides. Good value for the quality!

Good ambience and very close to the station. The service was very good too. The food was tasty but overpriced. We had dosas and the sambar unfortunately wasn’t very good. Would recommend for vegetarians.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Tharavadu Indian Restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience. The food was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes that satisfied my taste buds. The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who made the celebration even more special. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I highly recommend Tharavadu for anyone looking for great food and impeccable service.

Food appeared authentic. There were lots of locals in there. The service was good and the food was vibrant and tasty. The menu was slightly misleading which caused us confusion on payment but certainly worth a trip to eat. The food was not your typical choices you get in an Indian and were authentic meals from the region that the restaurant is called.

Friendly and welcoming place in Leeds city centre, right next to the station- not the normal menu here. Had a fish fillet starter - it was really good with fresh salad with it, nice slow burner spicy dip. Main was the lamb curry- very tender with great flavour sauce, quite warm but not too hot. Really quite good, would like to come back and try more fish dishes

Have always wanted to find authentic Kerala food and we found it here in Leeds. Known for the seafood curries - we tried the prawn and fish curry and were not disappointed. Kerala peratha also a recommended addition to help with the sauce.

This is a high quality restaurant...far above the standard Indian. It is genuinely authentic and uses quality ingredients only. Staff are attentive and friendly, and decor is original and adds to the whole experience. If you are a cricket fan there's some interesting cricket memorabilia of the Indian Cricket teams visits. Range of options are traditional vegetarian, plus some solid meat and fish dishes. It's worth a visit, even if it's a bit pricey as a nice quality treat.

The best Indian I've ever had! It was rammed on a Tuesday night so I knew it was a good sign but when the food came out I was absolutely blown away! Even the poppadoms at the start had some next level sauces with it that I've never had before. I then had the mixed seafood curry with lemon rice and Kerala bread - the curry was cooked to perfection and the bread was just incredible - fresh, light, and fluffy. Even thought it was super busy, service was outstanding, friendly, smiley, attentive and quick! 10/10 experience. Do not hesitate to book a table now!!

Wow, just wow. I visited with my wife, son and his girlfriend (who incidentally is from India.) This place is like no Indian I’ve ever been to. On a Tuesday night in October it was buzzing whilst other venues locally were empty. I thought we’d wait ages for food, given how busy they were, but no, service was swift and friendly. The food was exceptional, rather than your standard menus there is a list of traditional Indian delights for every palate. Whilst we aren’t local, when visiting Leeds again in the future we will be back. Keep up the great work guys. 5 ⭐️’s from me!

First time visit with a regular who recommended a couple of dishes. Opted for the Meen Koottan with a side of rice and paratha. Plenty of fish and really tasty. Dined early and the restaurant just kept getting busier, noise heightened as the evening went on, but the food was amazing, and spied a couple of dishes on nearby tables to try on my next visit.

Very nice place to have nice and different Indian food.
Dosa is a must, and any rice dish, especially with rice pancakes are amazing.
Staff can be caught up if the place is full and less attentive.

Cannot recommend this restaurant enough! It's my favourite in Leeds! Lots of atmosphere and loads of veggie options 😍

Pleasantly surprised. We had been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while now, so we travelled from Chesterfield just to try it out. Food was delicious, service was great! The only thing was that it was a bit noisy as the restaurant was full, but can’t fault them for that. We will definitely return. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great mallu food joint in faraway northern UK.

Goods

- authentic best possible
- great staff
- easy location near to Leeds railway station
- not so crowded menu

Bads

- getting a table can be difficult if no reservation
- got a vibe from service staff that 'just another Indian and wouldn't spend much' which I didn't like. May be I perceived it

Quick suggestion to the folks who own this place - please add more space to spread your food and love asap.

I'm a proud Mangalorean, and we all know our fishes well ;)

Perfect ambience, great menu, and good service. The hotel is situated right at the heart of the city.
I must admit that I did go here regularly for a week, I really liked what they had to offer with fish, if you go here - must try the fish dishes with appam, tastes very authentic! Keralites will love it :)

Finally, I do strongly recommend this place, but I still wish they could do more with fish, bring in more varieties.

Tharavadu comes like a breath of fresh air in a city erstwhile in a rut of authentic Indian restaurants. The food is absolutely brilliant and the service super prompt.
We were a group of 5 people and we ordered paper masala dosa, chicken dosa, veg and non veg thali, vada sambar and gol gappa chat. All the things were stunner. Special mention to the soup served with the veg thali. I find myself at a loss of words while describing that soup. Such vivid and immaculate flavours, a truly not to be missed delicacy. If not better, then most certainly at par with Sarvana Bhawan. Most generously recommended.

Absolutely stunning south Indian food. Loved how they havnt played around with south Indian cuisine and kept it very authentic. I especially loved the kerela aapam. Love this place and miss it too much.

Tharavadu is a breath of fresh air. It brings something to Leeds that you'd usually have to travel to neighbouring Bradford to find. With typically unheard of dishes, it moves away from the 'traditional British curry' and instead presents to us a true reflection of what food is like in South India along the Karalan coast line (I presume). It shows us what a dosa should be like. It shows us what else there is out there other than a chicken bhuna/balti/tikka masala. It shows us true passion in it's food. We booked weeks ahead for a Saturday night table for 8 diners at prime time. We walked in and were shown to our seats immediately. The restaurant is fairly small so I would always advise to book ahead. There was only one 'lads' table visible with a large mix of people scattered around, from your hipsters table, to your after Christmas shopping table, to your treating the parents table, to your girls night out table, to your maths geek table... you get the idea. It was extremely busy. Service was pretty slow that night, we had to ask for drinks after growing impatient with no one paying us much attention at the start of the meal but things picked up a little after then. Most of the table ordered a pint of Cobra, the standard Indian restaurant beverage. (£3.79) The menu layout isn't standard either and it took a bit of examining to decide what to have, a few needed help deciphering what were starters and mains.
