I'm not one to usually do reviews but last night after being turned away from the new Dakota bar and grill on Greek street because the door staff said we couldn't come in with how we were dressed (start casual) we'd been out shopping through the day then in a few bars on Greek street so wasn't in shirts and shoes! We walked round to blackhouse bar and grill we didn't have a table booked and now conscious of how we were dressed the staff welcomed us in and got us a table after a brief wait at the bar. We sat down and ordered the USDA ribeye steak after our waiter highly recommended it with half lobster and it was amazing!! During our time there I got tooth ache and waiter helped me out by getting me pain killers, my friend has run out of cigarettes and asked if they sold them in which the manager came back with a cigerette and lighter for him! So all in all I could not praise the staff here anymore they greeted us and made us feel welcome (even though we weren't dressed up) then to do all that for us is just exceptional service and I could but recommend this restaurant anymore!

No matter what you see in the other reviews from obviously not normal people, this place is fantastic. We was served drinks straight away in the bar by a barman that had top banter. We was shown to our table by the hostess who could not have been nicer. We was then looked after by Jess who constantly asked if everything was ok. The food and drink was amazing. Overpriced???? Get real!!! Very reasonable. All over amazing experience. Can't wait to go again !!
Best meal ever!
I thought I'd had the best meat/steak there was to be had but Jesus the Australian black fillet is one meal you won't forget.
Service was 5 star from arriving to leaving.
Made a family celebration very special.

Absolutely amazing! Really surprised reading some of these bad reviews - we absolutely loved it. Great food, lovely decor and atmosphere; the pianist was brilliant! Service was spot on, menu lovely and cocktails really good.. can't say a bad word about this place. Will definitely be back! We finished our night sat on the outside terrace with a dessert - pouring with rain but we were sat by the heaters under the covering. Top marks!
Amazing! I would definitely recommend! I went on a Saturday evening and even though it was busy the service was brilliant. The live music topped off the atmosphere perfectly and the staff were great throughout. :) Food also 5*

We visited at 6.30 so busy but not hectic. Straight to our table for drinks & nibble starters. Had the ribeye which was amazing. My lad is a fussy eater but I’ve never seen him eat as much. The service was great & the piano man just adds to it. Hope to visit again.

Visited on a busy Friday night without a reservation but we were found a table quite quickly. Water was brought to the table while we ordered, followed by our drinks and bread. Our waitress was great, always checking we were ready for each course, didn't feel rushed. The food was very good, well cooked steaks and hot accompaniments. Wine was regularly topped up. Pianist was a great addition, helped the lovely buzzy atmosphere I prefer in a restaurant.
Wonderful Bubbly Lunch. After a thirsty morning of shopping i decided to head to The Grill on the Square (Blackhouse) for lunch. I only wanted something light so decided to choose off their new lunch menu. I chose my regular dish of choice; chicken caesar salad and was surprised to learn that the £12.50 included a glass of bubbly (a lunchtime treat). The chicken was warm, the lettuce crisp and croutons plentiful! Anyone wanting a spot of lunch - I would definitely recommend The Grill on the Square!
Great food... fantastic service!. I visited Blackhouse with my partner in April. It's our fave place in Leeds! The Steak is always cooked to perfection... and the live music makes it such a fabulous atmosphere! Our waiter was extremely attentive as always. It always gets really busy at the weekends... so we made sure we made our booking early as to not be disappointed. We will be back very soon!!
Friendly staff that look like they're having fun. Nibbled on some starters while having a cocktail. Nice terrace outside
Great food/Service. Service in this place is the best I have ever seen. From the start we were treated like VIP'S. Thanks emma you made us feel like you we were the only people in the restaurant.
And for the food, mussels starter followed by 225g Ribeye with homecut chips. WOW. Best in leeds...

Ammmmmaaazzziiingg. OMG...the stakes of the month in this place are amazing they just melt in your mouth. Just how a stake should be. great atmophire and service the staff are full of knowlege. defo worth checking it out.
Great!. We always go to the Blackhouse ( too often probably!) and we always enjoy it! Last time we went we tried the Blackhouse platter to share.. good selection of starters! And the Chateaubriand was great as usual!
Good Night Out. Hi there, was recommended on urbanspoon to come to BlackHouse in Leeds. Can say was notthing shirt of great. The starter goats cheese with rocket was baked to perfection and my Sirloin with mash was the same. Really liked the live music and the good attentive staff, Jonny was particulary helpful!

Fantastic place! Great food excellent cocktails and absolutely amazing staff. Me and my boyfriend went to celebrate our anniversary and valentine's all in one, the place was packed and every server apologised for the waiting between drinks and courses. They even gave us our desserts for free due to the long waits (super polite and kind). The food was so good we would definitely come again.
The only fault is that we were situated right by the doors so every time it opened we got the full brunt of the cold ❄️
But all in all a brilliant place

Had lunch in here today and I must say the steak was outstanding, the chips even tasted a bit unique and loved those too.
Was a flying visit to Leeds so never been before but I'd definitely recommend this place for anyone reading my review.

My first impressions of Blackhouse were beautiful exteriors and interiors. Comfy seats and nice atmosphere. Staff were attentive but beware the 12% service charge, which in all fairness was pointed out to me before I paid.
Menu was good. I had an oak smoked and pear salad which was delicious and priced at £12.50. We shared a lively houmous dip to start and my daughter had rump steak which although a little chewy was very tasty, £27. The steak didn’t come with anything though which I found surprising at that price. All in all very nice but pricey.
Absolutely love this place. Went with friends as a party of 6. Our waitress Kitty was so lovely, enthusiastic and attentive. She was also knowledgeable about the menu when I asked about the different steak cuts. Food came quick and to a high standard. Will definitely be back soon!
Fantastic restaurant 3rd time coming to this place and my steak is always cooked to perfection and service is wonderful. Believe we had Tom in the last lunch trip, lovely guy, and very attentive. Just one bit of feedback is to get more varied on the side dishes as they can be quite plain

The night we went they we’re out of oysters, lobsters, and most of premium steak…
And the peppercorn sauce is charged extra.
The stars are mainly given to the atmosphere, the food cannot be more generic. Though it does bring people back once in a while, such as myself 🤦🏻♀️
Fantastic. Fast service, really good pricing for really good quality. A decent size portion and good waitron staff. Round about £50 for two people (mains and drinks). I will happily return and bring other people here!
Absolutely great! The food and service today were amazing. We visited today with our two children and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food and drinks were delicious.
Absolutely beautiful food, everyone at our table got a beautiful tasty meal, steaks cooked exactly how we expected. Good portion sizes, and amazing desserts. Went and tried the panna cotta and was stunning. Definitely one of the best sticky toffee puddings ive had, and the ice cream was quality, didn’t melt too quick. Service…. Kitty looked after us amazingly, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.
Absolutely fantastic, food 100% delicious and displayed wonderfully on the plates when delivered, staff are Absolutely wonderful happy be there and always friendly. High prices but worth it for the quality of the food. Steak cooked medium rare amazingly. Highly recommend the duck liver parfait and the rump steak.
The best steak I have ever had! Our server Jake was lovely and very helpful, the only thing that I could moan about was that my latte was served in a glass without a handle so had to wait ages for it to cool down. Will definitely come back!

Absolutely love this restaurant! Always have! It’s my favourite in Leeds for a steak and never disappoints!
This time we had the Tomahawk (800g) for Sunday lunch! Was lush. Let the chefs cook it to their recommendations- they are the experts after all.
The lovely waitress(not sure of her name, ginger hair and nose ring-lovely girl!) helped me select a great wine to accompany my food. Went for the Rioja 2014, it was gorgeous.
Overall an amazing meal, birthday treat. A few things I was surprised at or had changed but did not change the fact that I will be back. The ambience is always lovely. Especially when the piano player is on!

The bread portion was a lot smaller than way back when, when comparing it to the butter portion it did make us chuckle!
The sticky toffee pud was slightly cold in the middle but sauce was hot enough to get round this.
Our waitress had left by the time we finished and I would have liked to say thank you to her before we left as she did such a brill job :)

Steak (fillet) was nicely cooked, but not very flavoursome in itself, and the peppercorn sauce wasn't to my taste, but the sticky toffee pudding was delicious... And the cocktails were also gorgeous...so strongly recommend these items. Service was excellent, with the waiter, Dom, going above and beyond and I was absolutely happy to pay the service charge for him! We were able to sit outside with our dog because it wasn't busy and they were the only steak place out of about 4 we tried that would accommodate us with that. He ate chicken and loved it!
I've been dining at The Blackhouse in Leeds for a number of years now but last nights starter,main and dessert were outstanding!! Thankyou for a great experience and also to your staff who were brilliant!!
Located on East Parade this restaurant creates a really brilliant ambience with a live pianist/vocalist playing a really good range of jazz , blues and modern music. Excellent vibe without drowning out conversation. The staff are friendly and helpful and help to create a personal touch. The service was slow from the kitchen, maybe down to the number of parties in for Sunday lunch but the food was good quality and tasty. I’d definitely return and give this another go.

Return visit and certainly wasn’t
disappointed. Excellent table service & good quality steaks cooked to perfection, well rested, tender and with loads of flavour. However for some weird and unfathomable reason, choosing a beer is a complete guessing game for both customer and staff due to unbranded beer pumps. They had 4 attempts at finding the pint of asked for and having done so, had to change the barrel. Must cost them in both time & wastage - mad.
