Excellent selection of authentic Chinese food. Simple English friendly menu also available. The rice is cooked to absolute perfection.
Very friendly, courteous and helpful staff.
Ambiance not as dark as other reviews state.
We didn't have to wait long either. I will be returning to try different things.
For starter I had whole baby squid which were alright but I wouldn't order again. For main I had crispy fried beef in Cantonese sauce which was excellent.

I love the atmosphere of this restaurant
They’ve got good interior and lights which makes the place a bit more sophisticated
The staff were friendly and most of all the food was tasty
Though the prawn didn’t seem so fresh it kind of had a smell..
But the overall taste was nice
I would recommend it to the ppl who enjoy or miss Chinese food

Friday dinner at Red Chilly Restaurant in the City centre

1) Ambiance (0.75/1) - Very interesting with green lights along the windows, brown interiors with tinge of maroon cushions. A tad bit more of light wouldn't harm but it's different from other restaurants.

2) Food (1/1) - Have loved almost everything that I've had here! Their Gangpao starters with peanuts are to die for! Fishfillets in sweet and sour sauce was tangy and fresh. Daqian (named after a famous Chinese artist) falovour starters are fiery but really delicious! fried soft noodles 🍝 is absolute VFM!
3) Service (0.75/1) - Even on a busy evening they manage to be very timely. Family and large group friendly

4) Innovation and Technique (0.75/1) - They are loved for the well flavoured (probably to make more appealing to people in general) Chinese food. I've been here thrice and have never been disappointed!

VFM (0.75/1) - The price may appear more expensive than other Asian restaurants around, but their quality and quantity both are good. We were 2 of us and we couldn't finish 2 starters and a main🙈 that cost us a total of £27

Overall 4/5 and must try for all Chinese food lovers with friends and family!

I visit Red Chilli a lot. I must say their food are really good. However I notice a discriminating service. When I got there with my chinese friend, they always give you oranges as a dessert. But when I came there not with my chinese friend (I'm not chinese), we didn't got oranges despitw every other table got some. The waitress said that it's already last order when we asked why we didn't get free orange. It doesn't makes sense bcs the other table got it despite that we asked for the bill first.

We’ve has lots of firsts in Red Chilli over the years – from pig maw to ducks’ tongues. And we’ve tried some of the more exciting menu items like whelks, razor clams and frog’s legs. Not going to lie, I wouldn’t order the duck tongues again – bit chewy and not particularly tasty – and we’ve not quite worked up the courage yet to order the stir fried pig intestine. But Mrs Spotty’s bean curd dish is the only time I’ve come close to liking tofu. And because the menu is MASSIVE there’s always something new to try even if you come here fairly often.

An average restaurant?. I went once, and that was enough for me. Perhaps it was a bad day, but the food I had was average at best, Nothing like the superlatives expressed by some of reviews here. I eat 'Chinese' (szechuan, cantonese etc) often. I've lived in HK for several years and I travel to mainland China regularly. Some of the most amazing food I've had was in Xiamen. Red Chili is nothing special in my book.

Sham. This restaurant did have very authentic mainland chinese food when it opened a few years back but for my last 2 visits food quality has taken a turn for the worst.
Sorry!

Fantastic and different. Not your run of the mill Chinese restaurant! Excellent menu. go for the unusual, you wont be disappointed. Try the Beijing Aubergine... Pronominal!

Expensive for a Chinese but not unreasonable - fantastic food, definite cut above your usual sweet & sour and chop suey. Try some of the more unusual items on the menu - they are well worth it!

Red Chilli is a Chinese restaurants full of Chinese people so you know it’s the real thing. You also know it’s the real thing when you read the menu and it makes the exponents of “nose to tail eating” look like a bunch of wusses.

Lately, I've been into Sichuan cuisine and after hearing good things about Red Chilli, I couldn't wait to try it out when I was in Leeds. Thankfully, they are open till late as by the time we arrived from London for dinner, it was more like 9.30pm! Straig

Every now and then, a restaurant comes along that just hits the nail on the head. Red Chilli is one of them. Down a dark flight of stairs on a busy corner in the northern part of the city, you'll find a first rate Chinese restaurant, busy and bustling, pe
