Great little bar. Very friendly staff. Updated June 2022 - still a great little bar. Excellent beers quality atmosphere. Civilised and quiet. UPDATE February 2023 - still going well and still a great place for a drink. Excellent cask beers on a regularly changing rosta with regular guest ales. All this is in addition to the range of North's own (quality) beers. Updated November 2023 - you should go to this bar. Excellent beers, great staff. Pleasant atmosphere.... Remains one of the best local bars and my personal favourite in Meanwood. Good cask offering. Always plenty of choice for other beers lagers and porters. Great atmosphere, looking forward to returning to Alfred for years to come. Update March 2024 - one of the best bars in the area and in my opinion the best bar in Meanwood. Always a pleasant welcome from friendly staff. Great range of beers including local cask options - always a couple of North's own cask offering. On keg, a good range of beers, cider and lagers. Interesting cans from the fridge. They do toasties now and have links to local restaurants for eating in. My only gripe is that yapping dogs are over tolerated - nothing wrong with well behaved dogs / owners, but some owners think the world loves their dog regardless of their behaviour. Not everyone having a pint wants barking dogs in the background. Three barks and you're out should be followed through....

Incredibly friendly staff. Hannah was absolutely lovely and patient answering all my questions as I do not know much about beer, she made sure I did not even have to get off my seat to get another beer. One recommendation I got and I will not forget was pastore sour. At the end of my visit I even got a few cans to go home. The only small downside is that the chairs seem to be falling apart and now I have to be strategic about where I sit. Nevertheless, this bar it is now my to go place in Meanwood.

Popped into this hostelry for apéritifs. I'd call it quaint yet cool. Our patron for the evening was a most convivial fellow, Chris who was more than agreeable to meet our every need, no matter how niche or bizarre. The beer selection is really good and there's a fridge of tins if you prefer to imbibe sat out in the streets. I recommend Sputnik beer although everything is rather overpriced giving that air of cool pretension which it is not. Overall, I would give this house 6 out of 7 points. I shall return. Hopefully with better company next time.
