Absolutely delicious, full of flavour, great service and attitude amongst staff there and good choice options available. My go to chip shop this will be whilst living nearby. 😋😋😋😋😋⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ they're great at handling me and my quirks 😄

Some of the best fish and chips I've ever had - and that's including those that seem to taste better when you're by the coast. I'm not really a fish-in-batter lover, they don't sell pies so I tried the fish and I'm so glad I did. Freshly cooked while you wait, tastes amazing.
A limited menu but what's on it comes highly recommended by me.

Really good fish and chips, fish cakes,fish bits for children who wont eat a full portion. Ate haddock and chips at the Magpie at Whitby last week and they were 3 times the price and half as good as Captain Thornton's. Must be the cleanest chip shop in England. A pleasure to buy there.
Five years later, post COVID and I'm back again. Nothing much has changed..that is still excellent haddock and chips... we've eaten fish and chips in Sunderland, Newcastle, Staithes and Whitby and this Capt Thornton's is the best.

Really love this place. I rarely eat Fish and Chips as I generally find it too greasy, thats never happened from here. This place is a real family favourite. My folks insist on a visit here when they come to Leeds "it is the best fish shop" that is accolade indeed as they love a fish supper!
Children's fish bite meals are great from here too. Staff alway lovely with quick service even when busy :)

Went here for 2 special for tea and I would like to say, cooked to perfection glad I didn't get chips as the special was a very good size and barely managed to finish it. Staff were smart in there uniform and very pleasant. Will definitely be making this my first choice for fish and chips. Thank you Captain Thorntons for a lovely fish supper.

Fantastic tasty fish and chips, (under new management since November 2014).
I had fish and chip with curry sauce; it was a scrumptious meal.
Very clean looking business with professional owners and friendly staff. I also found they were reasonably priced too! In fact I enjoyed them so much it's my weekly treat!
