The first thing to strike me about the Corner House is it's size, it's like a blooming aircraft hanger. Now size isn't normally an issue for me but at the corner house it's as though a much smaller cafe has been transplanted into this enormous space and it seems kind of lost. The area behind the counter is bigger than most cafes.
I've actually visited a few times and kept meaning to write a review mainly slating the coffee but now that I've got round to writing i see that they are offering cafetieres so the coffee may well have improved.
This time I needed food so I chose a hot beef sandwich with onion. The sandwich was indeed hot and most assuredly beefy in the extreme but i did find it a little low on onion.
my mug of tea was splendid (so who cares about the coffee) and the prices were jolly reasonable.
The staff here are rather friendly and within moments of sitting down I was being asked to help put up a banner announcing the cafe's first anniversary (28th November) where, I was told, there will be a bit of a party and sandwiches will start from £1
I love this place - the prices are unbeatable and the staff can't do enough for everyone, which is why everyone drops in. Their breakfasts including tea/coffe with top ups are amazing value, but the variety in the menu to salads and proper hot dishes is unusually varied. It is a big place, so heating it has been a problem for previous owners in the winter, but the owners have done their research and invested in lots of individual heaters to keep everyone cosy. It is near Tong Road Motors, so I am tempted to get a car service far too regularly as an excuse to visit.
Nice place to have breakfast. Very clean. Food is fresh and tasty. Prices are reasonable. Place is spacious and comfortable. I ordered cheese toastie with tea which was made delicious and fresh. Staff is very friendly.
A plenty of nice sunshine was coming in the place making the place cosy and bright (the lights were still switched on unnecessarily waisting energy and money).
As usual a delight to eat in, decent food and brill service especially from the lovely lady on Monday morning she was happy and funny with a cute giggle 🤭 🤣

Open on Sundays! Which was all I wanted. Proper greasy spoon without the greasiness of some places. Pretty complete breakfast, perfect tomato's. Two pieces of toast a little burnt and beans a little cold. Having to choose between black pudding or spam or hash brown is very cruel.

Ordered a large breakfast. The portion sizes were good and the prices were pretty standard. There wasn't a very long wait for the food to arrive. Wasn't a massive fan of their black pudding, but it was still a decent breakfast overall.
