Excellent vegan restaurant. You really don't miss the meat. The staff are chilled and relaxed and the ambience is pleasant. There is a very good menu choice and the portions are a decent size. My first time here and I'll DEFINITELY be back!

Really excellent vegan cafe/bar. Serves brunch, lunch, roast dinners, puddings, coffee, mulled wine, beer, etc. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious. Had to wait a long time for the Sunday roast as a very popular place so just make sure you have time for a leisurely meal.

Amazingly Tasty food served fresh, by welcoming and friendly staff. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and environment for food and drinks. I had the curry of the day which was on my visit, potato and spinach Masala, it was extremely tasty, and had the occasional hit of chillies coming through which at times made it spicy, but delicious. Side of sweet potato Bravas was also amazing and tasty. Both dishes looked as good as they tasted. Top effort will be back to try more dishes

Amazing veggie / vegan food! Food came out really quickly and was delicious!! A good range of local beer on tap. Staff were lovely and friendly. We had our dog with us too - nice dog friendly place, will definitely be going back.

I went to Meat is Dead on Valentine’s Day 2022 with my partner. This was our first meal at the restaurant, and I honestly can’t fault the experience we had. We were promptly greeted and sat on entry, offered a drink right away, and we were offered to substitute our champagne for a mocktail seen as we don’t tend to drink alcohol (turns out I quite like a virgin mojito). The seating was comfortable, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the restaurant was warm even near the door in Winter. The service was absolutely excellent throughout our dining experience; our order was taken right away (we’d already checked the menu on Instagram), food was brought to us quickly, our table was cleared very shortly after we’d finished each course, and the following course came very soon after. All the staff were extremely pleasant and genuinely looked like they were enjoying their work even though it’s probably one of the most stressful nights of the year for them. Onto the food! Tempura vegetables to start, had a generous coating of very flavourful and crispy batter. Often tempura can end up being a bit oily and this is reflected in the flavour, but this tempura was some of the best I’ve ever had. I’m gonna need to get my hands on that recipe! Usually with tempura at a restaurant you’ll get maybe four small pieces, but I’m pretty sure there was about seven or eight large pieces; I was nearly full up just after the starter! It was also super fresh and piping hot. The staff were also kind enough to substitute the mayo (I’m not a fan) for a lovely chilli jam. All the food was fantastic, but the tempura stood out for me. For the main, we both had the butternut squash, which had lots of flavour. It came with fondant potato, which was something else. The layered potato was fluffy on the inside, crispy on top and packed with a yummy cheesiness. Again, the portion size was very generous. If the food wasn’t so delicious, I’d have probably left some on my plate. The main was also very fresh tasting and served hot. For dessert we had the chocolate fondue to share. This would be my only criticism of the night but might just be my own preference. The fondue was a little on the runny side and had a bitter flavour akin to raw cacao despite its creamy milk cocoa colouring. I know a lot of people that love this kind of chocolate, but personally I prefer a sweet milk chocolate as fondue, or a rich dark chocolate, and it wasn’t really hitting either note for me. The selection of fruit, honeycomb and marshmallows was great, and there was a lovely shortbread biscuit crumb to top your chocolate skewer with too. The presentation was cute, and the dessert sharing experience was so much fun to have with my partner. It looked like everyone else who ordered the fondue was having a good time also. Needless to say, I had an absolutely fantastic time, and I will be returning to Meat is Dead in the near future. I really can’t wait to eat more of their delicious food and chat with their lovely staff again. As a final note, let’s just remember this is a relatively new business and is only going to improve further with time. I really cannot wait to see how Meat is Dead grows, and I really hope to see more dedicated vegan restaurants of this quality opening up around the country. Also, if you’re a fussy vegan like me then you’ll know how refreshing it is not to worry about cross-contamination with meat and dairy! It was a brave move to open a restaurant like this and you can see the love and hard work that the owners and staff have put into the place. Thank you, Meat is Dead.

My partner and I visit quite often, we love the Sunday roasts - highly recommend! Also recommend the cakes/desserts, they are always incredible! As others have said, the vegan food scene in Leeds is oversaturated with junk food places, and Meat is Dead is a refreshing change from that. If you enjoy really high-quality, fantastic meals, this is the place for you!

Great vegan food. We have been once during the week and twice for the Sunday roast and will definitely come back again soon! Really yummy sticky toffee pudding and a nice selection of independent beers. The staff have always been really lovely and make an effort with our 2 year old. Quick service, generous sized meals and high quality ingredients. If you’re visiting on a Sunday make sure to book ahead as it gets very busy.

the sunday roast was beautiful. we had soup as well with a big chunk of bread which was very fresh and tasty, some exciting beers and pudding which was absolutely delicious ! we had not eaten all day and honestly nearly cried at how amazing this food was. two days later and we're still talking about it lmao. such an exciting new place, very friendly vibes, great atmosphere :) it's a bit on the expensive side but we were definitely not disappointed.

Very enjoyable. Took my wife here for lunch on her birthday. She is veggie and was over the moon about a menu where everything was suitable. I'm not veggie but there was plenty on the menu to suit me too. Good selection of drinks including alcoholic low and no alcohol. Menu was full of choice and was good quality, right quantity, and reasonably priced.
