Popped in for lunch after a hike near Wetton.
You would miss this little gem in Onecote if you weren't careful. Lovely country pub, really friendly staff and we had a great chat with a lady who had moved from the South as she put the wood stove on for us.
Great food, prompt service and just has a really nice atmosphere. My kind of pub! Shame I was driving as I could have easily settled in for the afternoon 😁
My partner and I had a random drive out and came across this pub - what a find!
After parking up we entered the venue by walking over a lovely wooden bridge across a brook. On entering the venue we were greeted by a friendly barman, who gave us exceptional service.
We then decided to have a nose around the venue and look in the various sectioned rooms, all were decorated elegantly with spaces for dinning and with large open fireplaces.
What was supposed to be a quick pit-stop turned into lunch, my partner ordered the gammon which he said was AMAZING. I ordered the steak which came out rare, just as i ordered and it was delicious. Both dishes came with thick cut chips (not sure if they were triple cooked but were full of flavour). The pricing here was quite reasonable given the high quality of the dishes - it was more gastro / bistro than pub grub.
I would highly recommend this venue for either a relaxing drink by the fire or for food - maybe a birthday or special occasion?
Extremely impressed with the service and quality of food. We’ve eaten here a number of times and it’s always been great.
We visited recently in a large group for someone’s birthday and the food came out all at the same time which was excellent. Would certainly visit here again!
