We had the previlage of dining for tasting event at Lilu's Leicester. We had a great warm welcome by polite and hospitable team. The whole experience was like a food adventure with with such nicely crafted and well cooked and great flood. The star of the evening was the hariyali salmon. It was Succulent and full of flavours. Finished up with great gajar halwa. Absolutely delightful. We will be back and tell all our friends.

Hired this lovely Indian restaurant for my 40th. In total there were 23 of us; with loads of kids of varying ages. From arrival the service was fantastic. Both Pratik and Bee went the extra mile to make me and my family feel welcome. The food.....just wow. It’s always a favourite of mine but risky when you recommend it to so many of your family who may have different tastes. Well I didn’t need to worry as the conversation over Sunday lunch today was all about last nights Indian food. Great way to celebrate as a family in a comfortable environment Book now!!

Two of us went for dinner. I had the lamb and he had the fish. My lamb was melt in the mouth deliciousness, served by very friendly staff. I also particularly enjoyed the little cup of soup that came between courses.

A wonderful meal at Lilu Cuisine this restaurant is an absolute gem. From the moment you arrive you are welcomed with open arms and made to feel your business is appreciated and very important to the owner. The food is of excellent quality each course is presented well and the flavours unique. It is a shame that Lilu is taking a break but l was delighted to find that there Deli in wigston will be doing some of their master dishes to take away ( cannot wait to try these ). Good luck in all new ventures Lilu we will miss your wonderful restaurant and will look forward to you returning later in teh year.

My wife and I dined here on her birthday. There is plenty to admire, most notably the delicious food in a pleasant setting, with a number of nice touches/surprises along the way. All of the dishes were excellent and nicely presented, with the lamb main course being particularly impressive. As reported by others, the service is friendly, perhaps to the point of erring towards being a tiny bit intrusive. Having been lured by the website saying their highly rated Thali was served only on Wednesdays we were disappointed to find that it was not available on that particular Wednesday - especially as we were told by way or excuse, incorrectly, that the website says that it needs to be ordered 24-36 hours in advance...it does not say that. The wine we ordered was unavailable too, which was a shame, but the alternative we selected was fine and sensibly priced. In fairness, when we were told to expect a delay between main course and dessert my wife suggested cheekily that a glass of wine on the house would be in order...and they duly obliged, which was good of them. Some reviewers have complained about the prices, but I think they are fair and justified for what is essentially Indian fine dining. Finally, no fault of the restaurant (as there was not a lot they could do about it) but our high end, intimate dinner was rather compromised by the arrival at a nearby table of a family of four that included a particularly lively, noisy and distracting 2 year old toddler in a high chair....and parents who didn’t seem to care very much at all about how his antics impacted on others around them. He was just being a lively little lad, but why would you take a rowdy toddler to a place like this at 8:00pm on a Wednesday? Some, come here with confidence for great food and decent service, you are unlikely to be disappointed.

Never been to this restaurant before so did not know what to expect. On first appearance we were greeted at the door shown to out table and drinks orders given. The menu very simple but food WOW. We had complimentary popadoms with 6 pickles all explained then they brought out another 2 complementary items which were lovely. If you are looking for that something different in Indian cuisine this is the place. Service and food exemplary could not fault

Definitely one of the best contemporary fine dining indian restaurants i have eaten at in a while, food was excellent and service from the elderly gentleman (who we think is the manager/head waiter) was brilliant. Thanks for a great experience Lilu!

I’m delighted to say I’ve finally eaten an exceptional meal in my home town of Leicester - I was starting to think it wasn’t possible. What a joy last night was from the moment we stepped through the front door. Friendly and helpful staff genuinely proud of what they had to offer, explained the menu well, attention to detail for my coeliac friend was helpful too. We plumped for 2 course for £35 but you actually get popadoms, amuse bouche and palet cleanser courses too. Every mouthful was gorgeous from the popadoms and 6 different dips - all bursting with deliciousness, we all loved our starters - the prawns, chaat and kebabs. My (vegan) main course, the Barwan Mirch was simply divine and my fellow diners were all very happy too; the game dish, chicken dish and lamb biriani all fab. AND the pace was beautifully slow, giving you time to savour and enjoy both the food and each other’s company. Loved it. Thank you. We’ll be back.

I love coming to Lilu for dinner! Their offering is much more different and unique compared to other places in Leicester with their fish and meat dishes both being so delicious, and their cheese naans are to die for. They are so accommodating for my dietary requirements/allergies in a way no other restaurant is! They work around it to still deliver all my favourites of the menu I can’t typically have. The wine and drink choice is also very good and the reds that are available work well with the food which is impressive! The team are very warm and welcoming which just adds to the lovely experience of eating here every-time. They also take business bookings and large party bookings as well which sometimes we do and the service even when they are have been so busy with our large numbers has been impeccable. If you are looking to try something new or find a new regular spot for dinner then I strongly suggest this place.

Myself and my partner travelled from Kent for the weekend and looked on TripAdvisor for the best Indian restaurant and we were blown away. The food here is absolutely top class and the friendly atmosphere created from the family that own and run the restaurant make you feel right at home. If we’re ever in the area again we will go out of our way to ensure we eat here again, can’t fault the place!

A unique Indian dinning experience. A limited but very high quality menu. Good service. I've been three times and each visit has been excellent.

I called the restaurant to make a booking - except my query was for an out of hours booking. As there were 9 of us, the restaurant owner, Pratik, agreed to put on a special private dining event for a Monday lunchtime for us. For this I was very grateful. As it was a working lunch, we only wanted a two course meal. Lilu's delighted us with an 'Indian Banquet Meal'. The ambience of Lilu's is lovely. I had been on one prior occasion for dinner (more on that later), and knew that the venue was clean, cosy, comfortable. The decor is neither kitsch nor uber modern, it is a restaurant styled with modern furniture but with a friendly vibe with wooden floors and subtle wall art. So that main event... The Indian Banquet Meal... Starters came with Paneer Tikka, Chicken Tikka and Lamb Chop. The vegan option was Aloo Tikki Chaat. And for good measure a mandatory samosa. Presented on individual plates, these starters kicked off the afternoon very nicely. My eight guests were just taken away with each. The paneer was smooth to cut and the marinade of tikka had both the light kick and freshness needed to make your mouth wanting more. And you did get more, with the chicken piece. Marinaded the same, the chicken was consumed so quickly by all, the only disappointment being that they couldn't have more - they would have spoiled their dinner. The Lamb chop has a nice crispness and a soft centre, just the contrast needed. Available were also a range of pickles which included mango, onion, mint yoghurt, coriander and a kind of pineapple achchar. Of course these also came with a fresh poppadom! These pickles were awesome, giving the right edges of sweet and spice to the starters and the poppadom. The little details matter, each of us were served a fruit juice of mango and strawberry to accompany. It had that, I wish I could somehow make it look like that at home look. Served in a champagne flute complete with pomegranate seeds. Then came the mains...they served as we needed - in balti dishes so we could share the dishes and not overfill our plates. Mains comprised of Lamb Rogan Josh, Butter Chicken, Kidney Beans Curry and Soya Keema Curry, with naan and rice. There was silence at the table at this point. That moment when the group is so focussed on the food that even conversation takes a side road. It was very difficult for the group to decide which of the Chicken or Lamb dishes gave them their fix. The party I was with were from Mumbai, they are used to eating Indian food. When you hear comments like, 'Oh my God, that chicken was something else' and 'My goodness that is perhaps the best lamb I've had', to 'I've got to stop eating but I can't it's too good', I guess I should be a proud Leicesterian when I prance about all over the place saying how good Leicester food really is. The butter chicken was delicate, just as you need it to be, the taste is in the aroma before it even enters your mouth. And the lamb had the delicate spices lifting the meat onto the pallet. The kidney beans were a favourite with the rice, just a lovely gravy to go with it. The earthy Soya Keema provided a lovely contrast. The staff were incredibly attentive, kind and accommodating. Our guests were suitably relaxed to be able to have the work conversation without feeling at pressure at all. I had once visited the restaurant with my wife for an evening meal where I had rocked up without much of a reservation and they catered for our dietary requirements. This is how gourmet food is approached at Lilu's. They treat you as house guests enquiring about your comfort and trying very hard to ensure your meal with them is as individual as it can be in a restaurant environment. Thank you for a lovely afternoon of food, and thank you for catering so effortlessly.

Tried Lilu for the first time yesterday. We weren't sure what to expect from the concept of 'indian meets fine dining', but that is exactly what it is. The restaurant uses the best of local ingredients it can source, and creatively transforms them into anglo-indian gastronomy. The crispy paneer starter was the stand out for me, closely followed by the okra side-dish, but all of the food we had (three courses, plus some sides to try out a few different things) was absolutely divine. Atmosphere was great, very tranquil, and the staff were attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening, and will definitely be returning in the future. Finally, just to add, that although the food is fine dining standard, don't be put off by this label in terms of price, or portion size. The food looks and tastes amazing, the but portions are generous, and present great value for the quality of product they are offering.

An amazing new variation on the vegi thali-lilu was the the stuffed pepper. It's now stuffed with pulled jackfruit in a coconut sauce - Absolutely delicious! If I had known it was made in coconut I would have been reluctant to try it, but now that I have, I can't wait to order it again!
