The Chef reccomendHad a fantastic evening with friends at the Poachers. Food was amazing, as was the wine, service and all of the staff. A fantastic night and real VFM
Great meal on their new steak nights There were 4 of us and we all had starters, followed by sirloin steaks, cooked exactly as we all wanted, with chips, freshly made scrumptious onion rings and salad- with 2 good bottles of house wine, all of this came to less than £94 Aga and Vinny were welcoming as always and the food was cooked to perfection 2 sirloin steaks with all the trimmings and a bottle of house wine for £40 (take £10 off if you don't want wine)is excellent value and the setting with log fires is so relaxing and inviting If you haven't tried it here yet you're missing a trick and Steak Tuesdays is a great idea ( there are plenty of alternatives on the menu too) Thanks Aga and Vincenzo for a lovely evening - see you next week !!
Brilliant first Tuesday night - excellent value and the food was lovely. Highly recommend giving this a go!
As always, first class food and service with fish tapas to start and 8oz gammon and chicken for mains. Could not fault it
I celebrated my 40th Birthday with a Sunday lunch at the Poachers Brasserie via their private dining room. From start to finish the attention to detail for customer service was impeccable. Aga was amazing and lead the team to deliver a great service. The food was incredible, super tasty and I would argue is a restaurant to challenge others not only in the locality but countrywide. So thank you. You made turning 40 .....more enjoyable. 😜😘 xx
Came for lunch having wanted to try this restaurant for a while, and now wish we’d not waited so long! Started with a nice drink by a roaring fire while we looked at the menu, very cosy. Food was all great, literally can’t thing of a single negative thing to say. The venison main I had was particularly tasty. Service from all the staff was really friendly. Only downside was it was a bit quiet, but it was Thursday lunchtime so is maybe to be expected. We will certainly return!
Brilliant service from when we walked in to leaving, could not fault them on that. Food for was brilliant, mains was ok it could be what I ordered but presentation and eye to detail was superb.
We love eating here (last came a year ago). Vincenzo’s creativity and passion for food always comes through in the varied and interesting menus. Excellent meal, excellent service. Lovely that as many ingredients as ossicle are locally sourced. We were made to feel very welcome and are bound to return.
We visited Poachers last week and had a fantastic dinner...better than any fancy michelin starred restaurant.We both had prawns to start and followed with the most delicous fillet steak...very tasty and cooked to absolute perfection.The red wine was mature and well balanced and not expensive but value for money. The service was excellent and the restaurant almost full. Well done to all the staff.
We eat fairly regularly at the poachers. The Cote De Beouf (20 oz ribeye) is a personal pleasure of mine! We went for our daughters birthday meal and Agga and the crew (their service is always phenomemal) went the extra mile and let our daughter and her two friends loose in the kitchen to help make their own pizzas!! The pizzas at poachers are absolutely superb and again I can't speak highly enough of the teams service there, they truly make you feel at home and welcome. We'll be visiting again soon! Stewart
Went for Sunday lunch and literally do not know how we haven’t been here before. Service was excellent, food was excellent, drinks were excellent. We went on the last day of their seasonal menu so a few things weren’t available and were replaced with something else, but we appreciate fresh ingredients so we didn’t mind. Overall we can’t wait to go back.
A lovely welcome on arrival, the bonus of a living fire, and the food was excellent. It didn't help that some of the wedding party, having forgotten what they ordered, didn't want what was listed but the willingness of the chef to change was amazing. The delays between the courses enabled time for the food to be digested and for conversation. The staff were excellent and there was attention to every detail from clearing tables to ensuring the jugs of water were regularly filled.
Had a delicious light lunch here while catching up with a friend... our food was excellent, the decor and ambience is lovely and the service second to none!! Will definitely return to try other options!!
Brought a groupon voucher for a 2 course lunch, it was fabulous, staff were brilliant, so was the food,the resturant is very nice and spacious, would definately recommend.
The staff, the menu, the decor, the food and the ambience all very near perfect. But oh the wait for food to arrive at the table. Seemed like forever. Waiting staff offered us a round of drinks because of the delay. I think we were just unlucky. Well worth a visit.
Went to this place for lunch, the food was surprisingly tasty! Will definitely recommend! My 7 year old son especially loved the soup!
My Husband I visited today for his Birthday.So pleased we chose as simply delicious food. Roast Beef cooked to perfection,vegetables fresh abd good selection.LIght fluffy Yorkshire puddings.Desert took me to another level! White Sphere with Clotted cream Ice cream,you just have to try it.Husband had delicious Panna cotta. Definately recommend.
Met a couple of friends there to celebrate my wife's birthday and first impressions were really good as the place has a really nice atmosphere. Table booked for and we were seated at 8.40 - despite having the menu in the bar where perhaps they could have taken the orders so that starters could be ready when you sat down we took them with us and it was another ten minutes or so before the orders were taken. Starters took another quarter of an hour and the mains arrived at 10. That said when the food arrived it was perfect - the green chicken, duck and sea bass were wonderful but the star was the meat platter as a starter. generous portions to say the least. The place didn't seem over busy and I can't understand why everything was so slow. It took the edge off a lovely evening and that's the only reason I haven't given it 5*. Yes I would go back and would recommend it but with the proviso - be prepared to wait.
Booked table and had Sunday lunch here based on the excellent reviews. The ambience of the place, the starters and the wines were very good, let down by mash, roasters and meat on the mains that were just not hot enough. The potatoes went back and were replaced. Sad thing is there was no real apology, we were almost made to feel it was our fault! There was a large party of about 20 people served just before us, and we wondered if our food had been left in the side whilst the large party were served? I think we were just unlucky, such a shame as we all really liked the place, and this was our first visit

Great Sunday dinner, 5 of us including 2 children. Lovely food and great service. Not been for a couple of years and very pleasantly surprised - we will be back and soon, highly recommend!
