We chose this restaurant because of its proximity to De Montford Hall and online reviews. We ordered poppadoms and the pickle tray to start. We found the choice of pickles to be very poor. The yoghurt was light pink in colour and looked weird. The rest were average at best. Finely chopped onion is……finely chopped onion so the same wherever you go.
Although this was very disappointing the service was friendly and efficient. We were not rushed.
So, we were quite apprehensive about our mains. However, they were a resounding success. I had the mixed kharai and my wife had prawns. Both dishes were very good and the accompanying mushroom rice and garlic Nan was very good. The price was reasonable.
We would certainly return. However, the poppadoms and pickle tray are not a patch on our local Indian restaurant, so if they got this right it would have had full marks.
Food is rich in flavour, 2 people of our party had the lamb and it fell apart as you picked it up it was cooked very well. Spice level could have been higher for some of our dishes as we did request this but the flavour was all there! Good value for money, good service. The resteraunt itself is rather small we booked a table and was seated fine although it felt cramped at times and did get a little busy, hence only 4 stars but we will dfinitely be ordsring takeaway in future! Overall loved it
I have enjoyed countless meals here with numerous people since arriving in Leicester in 1990 and I was deeply saddened to learn this evening that this Leicester institution will close at the weekend. I would like to thank the owners and employees and wish them good luck in their future endeavours.
