Just coming home from the Voe Show including a visit to Katja's Unkenwagen - what an amazing mobile cake van, very clever design and beautiful interior!
Being german myself I may be a little biased when it comes to the cakes (I just love good old traditional german cakes!) - but boy, are they good!!! Today I had some BIENENSTICH ("beesting cake") and a NUSSECKE ("nutty corner") - and they truly put a smile on my face! :-D

Cosy cafe with curved windows like a lighthouse overlooking sea and cliffs. The chicken rice soup was delicious and welcome on a cool windy day. Coffee and desserts very nice also.

It is worth travelling hundreds of miles just for the cakes here. Chocolate and hazlenut quite simply the best cake I've ever had...and I've had a lot!

This is a lovely cafe with a view that is hard to beat! Soup and filled seeded roll were excellent and shared strawberry cake was freshly made and very tasty. Friendly and helpful staff. After waking along the coastal path from the Sumburgh Hotel car-park it was just what we needed!

Part of Sumburgh Head lighthouse attraction which is also excellent. Superb tasty filled rolls, fresh & satisfying size. Great cakes & coffee, spectacular place to watch the sea birds.

We visited Unken Kaffee on Sumburgh Head, Shetland recently. What a great experience !
Lovely warm and friendly reception from Katya and amazing German cakes, we even bought extra to enjoy them the next day.
The flat white's were also very good
If you on Shetland and enjoy great coffee and cake you should definitely not miss Unken Kaffee.

Always great cakes, Katja usually has something different every day, and really good savoury options too. There's also usually some gluten free or dairy free choices on offer. The bus itself is pretty uniquely fitted out as well.

Lovely cafe. Excellent soup and roll and bird watching for entertainment. Warm and welcoming.
