Smashing place this! I recommend this for people passing through or shopping, followed by a nice walk along the ricer! Or a nice walk along the river followed by a nice snack!

Always remember coming this way for something right from when it was first a cafe zone in 1993. All good stuff with coffees and food items here. Now transformed each time and different and better things on the menu each season.
Many times here for coffee and lunch stuff for most times of day.

A good cafe, well located with quite a lot of space for diners both inside and out.
It was busy when we visited, but we managed to find seats, and the food - a burger and a full English arrived reasonably quickly, given how busy the kitchen must have been. Good value!

Geogeous café with nice street terrace seating forounging in the sunshine. Full English breakfast is decent. The fresh juices are also worth a try. Friendly, smiley staff.

I'm a college student visiting from the U.S., and was in Lewes for a little over two weeks. I wandered into the Riverside Cafe (Downstairs) on the first day, and kept coming back after that. The staff go above and beyond to be both helpful and friendly, food comes out promptly, and the food is delicious. It's not fancy (posh?), but everything is tasty and fresh. I had multiple sandwiches, toasties, milkshakes, and smoothies over my 16 days here, and if I'm ever back in Lewes, this is where I'll go first.
Shoutout to Anthony, Jade, Stuart, and the rest, you were one of the best parts of my trip!
