Found this lovely gem of a pub in Steep Hill, Lincoln this evening. Good selection of draught and bottled Sam Smith's beers served in the interesting traditional immaculate setting. The landlords Steve my and Karen were so welcoming and pleasant that we stayed for a meal which was freshly cooked and delicious. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Always liked this pub. Great prices, nice beer and cider. We got told to get off our phones (it's policy and we missed the signs) so we actually had to talk to each other. All pubs should adopt this policy!

Great little pub. Prices seem reasonable. Don't get your phone out though as you will soon be told to 'kin put that away. Or rather you won't because they have a no swearing policy.
Seriously though it's a lovely place. The staff are polite. To food was nice. I will go again next time I am in Lincoln. Just a breath of fresh air from everyone staring at their phones.
Did make me laugh though because currently there is the government track and trace policy which needs a mobile phone.

Lovley traditional quirky bar. Very clean.
Helpful attentive staff and a great landlord.
Ended up in this bar not planned but will definitely go back. Excellent prices for wine.

Definitely one to visit if your in Lincoln with its traditional ways.

Absolutely wonderful pub. Attentive and courteous staff. A variety of ale choices at more than reasonable prices, and the lines are clearly well kept as the taste will show. It's a Sam Smith's pub so you can not have your mobile out, no tablets or laptops, and no cursing. Don't let those rules discourage you, as they lead to good conversation (many of the regulars are very engaging) or some time to read, relax, and simply remove yourself from our busy worlds for a bit.

We love this pub, the landlords are great, doing a difficult job keeping on top of the no mobiles/electronic devices rules for the sam Smith's group of pubs. The beer is excellent and sho is the food. A proper pub which encourages the lost art of conversation. Long may it continue

I rarely visit pubs and this was my first visit to Widow Cullen's Well. At 6.30 in the evening, when I dropped in with my husband and son, it was very quiet, which suited me fine. There was a good range of drinks, both alcoholic and soft and I opted for and elderflower presse, which was very refreshing. It's plainly a very old building with lots of exposed woodwork and has been sympathetically restored. There are several different areas to sit in, all very comfortable and the staff were helpful and friendly. While I didn't spend very long there, I found it a very pleasant experience. This is a pub that will appeal to some more than others however; there a strict house rules which ban the use of all electronic devices and swearing in the belief that conversation should flourish.

A beautiful old building on the steep steps of Lincoln. Drinking only downstairs so you will have to sit upstairs for food. The upstairs is set in the eaves so has a lovely atmosphere and has been tastefully renovated. The food is great value for money. 2 drinks and 2 meals came to £25 only!
Being a Sam Smith's pub it operates a no-swearing and no-tech policy. And if you are caught with your mobile expect to be told to put it away!
I sneaked a couple of photos though. The food tastes fresh & homemade. I would definitely go back! Thankyou x

We visit the Lincoln christmas Market every year and having a meal and a few drinks here is always a tradition we enjoy. This year however was the best by far. The pub is under new management and it really does show. There was a warm welcoming atmosphere with very friendly staff and lovely landlord and landlady who did everything they could to make our visit enjoyable. There is also a no mobile phone /tablet/laptop policy which at 1st May seem annoying but actually it is an excellent idea. We sat chatting more and everyone seemed much more sociable. The meal we had was spot on, excellent quality and very good value for money. We will definitely be looking forward to our visit next year.
