Very nice food. Francesinhas are excellent with the sausages very tasty and the sauce delicious. The cheese is also excellent. This is the best sandwich in the world and you can eat it here. You can also drink delicious vinha verde (green wine). Genuine Portuguese food and very well done. You can also eat in a very pretty garden, ideal for summer

Hey all,
Me and my wife went to this small Portuguese restaurant during this bank holidays, and we ordered some main food and drinks. The waitress was very friendly and caring , and when we chose to eat in the small garden, she continuous asking us for be moving inside, but we rejected as it was so nice having dinner in that little garden. After 1 h, the Chef brought our food and was apologetic for the long waiting ,and very approachable. The food was superb and I can say the potatoes were the best I ever eaten. It is understandable the long waiting as it was only 3 people working, we did not ordered any starter and it seems to be prepared on that moment. I recommend to the restaurant to add an extra stick on the Kebab option for 2-3 pound. That can make a difference!

This is my favourite spot in all of Liverpool. The restaurant is extremely cozy,
as if you’re walking into your aunt’s dining room for a family get together.
The menu has a very wide range of different food from across the Portuguese cuisine. I got two tapas which were incredibly well prepared. To finish the evening I had a Nata, which is a must-have during any visit here.
The staff were incredibly kind, and truly felt happy to talk about and share the experience of food. Please take an evening to visit this wonderful hidden gem.

Me & my husband accidentally found this hidden gem yesterday after an appointment.
We were warmly greeted by the owners whom showed up the lovely courtyard full of flowers and a water fountain the sun was out and I felt as-if I was abroad.
We had a glass of house wine each which was good 😊
Then we ordered a tapas board the waitress as very informative and told us about all the produce being authentic Portuguese.
I then had the sardines with boiled potatoes which was very tasty my only regret it was that I couldn’t finish my plate as I had over indulged on the lovely bread and olive oil.
If you like authenticity and real Portuguese dishes this is for you.
Overall me and my husband had a really nice afternoon.
Thank-you to the owners.

Fantastic family restaurant with freshly prepared high quality food.
This place is a little gem tucked away at the back of another food outlet
with a quaint garden filled with the owners handmade art.
My wife and I went to Cafe Porto in October and had a fantastic meal out in the garden. The owner Pedro and his team prepare all there own food and his wife kindly explained the origin of the dishes to us which was most interesting.
There are some fantastic Portuguese dishes to try and delicious puddings. The house wine was also of a very high standard and as with the food, is all chosen carefully by the owners.
We hope to come back to Liverpool again and Cafe Porto will most definitely be on the list of places to re-visit.
Thank you all for a very pleasant afternoon you made us so welcome.

The best experience I have ever had in a restaurant in Liverpool.
This is not a restaurant for a quick feed. You should come with the sole purpose of having a relaxing meal with family and friends.
The food was utterly perfect and the service / ambience made me feel immediately welcome, like I was sat in someone's home.
Will be back again as soon as I can with as many people as possible! Looking forward to having a glass of their lovely Pegoes in the garden - built by the chef Pedro himself!!
The perfect restaurant.

Have come here several times over the years. Tasty food, good wine and some of the best cakes you'll find in Liverpool. With all the tapas restaurants these days offering wild fusion cuisine of varying quality, it's a pleasure to go somewhere with authentic Portuguese dishes and a homely, welcoming atmosphere.

Came here for sangria and was not disappointed! Beautiful garden and decor, sangria was delicious, service was very friendly and attentive.

We dropped in last night on our way to the Liverpool Philharmonic. We often visit Portugal and wanted to sample the “local’ cuisine. We were not disappointed! The food was fantastic and the service excellent. We have visited many Portuguese and City based restaurants and for value this is certainly one of the better Liverpool based establishments. We will be back soon!

We visited Cafe Porto for the first time last night and it didn't disappoint. We ordered the fish board and octopus to share. Everything tasted incredible and we could tell it was freshly prepared. Mary and Pedro (owners) were very welcoming and lovely to chat to. We can't wait to go back!

We had a great cosy night drinking Portuguese wine and eating some delicious dishes both with meat and fish in the backyard, surrounded by grapevines. Only wishing portions were larger to further savour the experience!

An absolute delight, wine, starter and main course. I daresay the desserts are as good but stuffed so don't know

Very tasty. Had Vinho Verde wine £20 bottle. Followed by orange & chocolate crepe, delicious. Would visit again and recommend!

Wonderful restaurant & I am a nightmare for eating out as I love to cook, the menu is small & the place itself is intimate, it’s just perfect, I think some reviews say it is like being in someone’s home. You basically are it’s wonderful. The food is perfect, favouring quality over quantity. Just a really nice place to eat have been back multiple times & will go again. Plus the outside space is a bit of a hidden gem right in the city centre.

We had a great lunch, bring back our childhood memories which we missed our Portuguese food. Kids love their meal, great thumbs up from them. Good host and lovely environment. We will be back and highly recommend.

Very friendly cosy restaurant- we have eaten Tapas in many places here and abroad- we were somewhat disappointed in the portion sizes that were over priced- had to ask for missed part of meal after plates removed- having visited Northern Portugal in September for first time we were looking forward to a meal here sorry for negative review

Fortunately there was one salt cod left after a busy night last Saturday which gave me a chane to taste the amazingly oliveish juicy and beautiful food after work, I have to clearify that although I work here I'm not saying in commercial purpose because my father always teach me to treat food serious. And my background of growing up in Sichuan, which is most famous for its food in China, give me a very fussy and high standard of food, even so I have to say the cod is amazing!
After the treatment, the texture became in the middle of fish and meat and gave it a great flavor from sea salt, at the same time the sprinkled chilly power spiced it up but wasn't unacceptably hot because of the balance from well cooked onion.
The potatoes were already soft while the surface became golden and crispy after baked.
I was talking to my dad the other day(kind of showing off) that I learned a lot about how to cook in the Portuguese way, whereas he said to me you know it doesn't mean it's the same because the ingredients i.e. cod, wine, olive oil cooking ingredients would be different and something you might never find in China.
The long post is simply to show how much I love cafe porto, it's atmosphere, lovely customers and food!
I will be leaving England soon, but here will always be my second home! And I hope more people could enjoy it

Wow, what an amazing place! Small family run business with outstanding quality and perfection!

Looks and feels like a snug home away from home. I had the chance of speaking with the owner and he's awesome! From what I've heard, he even organises barbecues in the summer, now that's something I won't be missing out on!!

Food tastes absolutely fantastic! If you don't know what to get just let the staff make the choice, you won't regret it!

Can be a tad expensive but just like the saying goes 'you get what you pay for'!

I highly recommend!
