Popped in on a Thursday afternoon for lunch after reading the reviews. I must admit I was shocked how good the food was, I ordered the steak and ale pie chips etc. my partner she ordered the salmon and I can honestly say these were one of the best pub meals we’ve had..
Staff were helpful and friendly, the pub was spotless, food was not only excellent but pretty quick too. I 100% recommend the cookhouse, we will be returning again as their are other meals we want to try. Great job

Popped in for a family meal in the evening, brilliant atmosphere inside with lots of options to choose from.
Duty manager Phil couldn't have done more to make the night special.
Definitely coming back again !

I had been to the Cookhouse a couple of times before Covid and hadn't been overly impressed. However, on this visit I was amazed at the transformation. The food was excellent, nicely served by pleasant and helpful staff who were unobtrusively attentive. There was a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and in spite of it being a busy time, service was prompt and with a smile.

Enjoyed a birthday celebration, staff where very accommodating, food was lovely reasonably prices and everyone had clean plates. They have children's options which where reasonable, I can highly recommend the fish and chips and chicken kebab

Popped in and had a delicious food experience! We had the tex-mex burger (which was really yummy) and the pasta dish (a very deep bowl of it too!). All washed down with some soft drinks, and a Belgian waffle \o/. All the management and staff were very friendly too. We will be returning soon!

This was our second time here. This first time is when it was first opened and it was chaotic, so didn't comment as it wouldn't have been fair.
This time, well it was excellent, staff where very polite and pleasant. Food, we had the Carvery. We where both very impressed with the quality and tastiness of all the Carvery.
Meat melted in your mouth,
Veg, just as we like it.
Very clean place.Tables clean and not sticky, toilets very clean as well.
So for that I gave it 5☆
Deffo go there again soon.

Got 4 adult carveries and 1 child to take away , I was very impressed, veg was spot on, plenty of meat and good size, only downfall was having to wait 1/2 hour , so they could first serve dining in customers.

This is the E Mail that I sent to admincookhouse after my visit on Tuesday evening, I did not get a reply sadly.
Hi, I hope that you don’t mind some constructive criticism regarding my visit to your establishment this evening?
The transformation from a run down slightly dodgy local pub is amazing and to see the place reborn and full was great - so congratulations where it’s deserved.
The service was a bit strange a queue at the bar, which seemed to have plenty of staff but only one person serving, I can let this slide a little being new and maybe staff are a little inexperienced. We sat at a table that had been recently vacated and nobody cleared away the used napkins and empty glasses until our meal arrived. The main meal came before the starter, which only came after I asked - ok no problem mistakes like this happen, but the overall impression was that the staff were disinterested in creating a great customer service but rather just doing a job.
My partner had the steak and ranch salad which she enjoyed and I had the Cheese and onion pie, chips, peas, carrots and gravy - only no gravy. I didn’t bother to ask why maybe there is no veggie gravy? My meal was somewhat underwhelming for £9.50, small portion size and quite frankly bland.
We were also sat close to the kitchen and witnessed several meals being returned by other customers so I probably wasn’t the only disappointed customer.
As a vegetarian I am used to having poor to no choice on a pub menu and was please to see several choices but notice that there is no “no meat carvery” option on the menu as the Toby Carvery does - blind roast with all the trimmings and a bit of veggie gravy would be a great addition to your menu.
So my overall impression of my first visit was great place, poor service, average food but poor value for money. I would visit again, as it’s local, but maybe only for a drink.

I visited for the first time on Easter Day. We didn’t have a table booked but fortunately we were seated straight away despite it being busy. The food was great and so was the service we received. The kids enjoyed the play area outside especially as Anna from Frozen was there! They loved their kids meal too with one child describing it as “the best meal they’ve had” We will definitely be returning, thank you x

Went this morning for breakfast arrived at 11.00, all you can eat breakfast ... Well all you can eat if you're quick!! Food itself was ok sausages a bit over cooked but pleased they had fried bread and black pudding. Chose to have unlimited tea and coffee too. Other customers came in after us I'm assuming also for and all you can eat too. On the dot of 11.30 everything was taken away including tea and coffee facilities I had paid for unlimited and only got the chance to have one in the 20 minutes we were there others who came in later will have had less of a chance than me. I think at least you should try and leave the breakfast and drinks out until 12 to give us a fighting chance.

Been twice, extremely disappointed second time, d.cokes was just post mix and returned to request better drink to be told it was fine and served the same post mix fizzy-less drinks again. Son's burger was dry, my chicken burger was absolutely rank!!! Worst burger ever! I am hoping the catering is looked at as the place and refurbishment is excellent.

We visited today & had a couple of drinks plus a sharing platter while our son was having fun with his cousin. Very impressed, lovely staff & great food!! Will definitely be returning with our 10 year old!! :-)xx

been dying to try this place since it opened , i live nearby and pass it every day and it looks fabulous , anyway finally got to have breakfast there this morning with my daughter and we enjoyed it very much and will definitely re-visit, just one small criticism would be ,what do you do with your tea and coffee slops when you want to refill your cup ,

Went for breakfast with my mum and brother. All you can eat and a decent price too! The food was hot and fresh and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Leah made sure that we had everything we wanted and couldn't have been more lovely! Looked at the evening menu and saw a couple of things I fancied so il be going back for dinner soon!

Waited ages and the place was nearly empty, had a "large" mixed grill or half of one really but paid 15 quid for it a bit of a rip

Went to tonight for first time we are local but decided to wait until it was a bit quieter but even on weds tea time it was really busy, however the carvery was lovely no queue all fresh the chef was just filling up so I guess we hit lucky the meats really nice,my son chose off main menu as didn't want a carvery his main arrived 30 mins after we ordered,he really enjoyed it despite wait... & my daughter loved ice cream station... good job maybe more staff on busing tables/meeting & greeting as when we arrived there was quite a few dirty tables but as soon as I mentioned to a staff member they cleaned it... all the staff we encountered were lovely.... I think it's going to be a great family eatery/pub we will certainly be back.

Couldn't really fault it. Anything was an improvement on the old sticky floors of the English Rose. Service was great, food was decent, starter (pate) was average though. Still early days but can only see it improving. Staff were warm and friendly and atmosphere was spot on. Looking forward to trying the beer garden when it gets warmer

Beautiful Pub with poor food, under and over cooked cheap and tasteless meals, waited ages for a table and even longer for food.
