The restaurant is located a little on the outskirts of liverpool. The place is more a pub and has a really nice ambience. The service is good too. The drinks menu is obviouslt very grand and satisfying. The food menu is limited but the food is decent and has good quantities. Certainly a place worth visiting.

I can't remember if I found this place on yelp, or just drove and hoped and decided this place looked great. Summer turning into autumn meant the light was going, but it was still warm enough for beer gardening and seeing the pretty lights properly. Unfortunately the popularity had been underestimated, and the beer garden was unsurprisingly full, so we had to sit inside, where we were quickly sat in the corner. Lovely decor, comfortable temperature, nice lighting, comfy seats, a little rowdy with bustle. The food was gorgeous. I had chicken schnitzel, mostly because I really wanted the salsa verde that came with it, which was also wonderful. Parmesan mayo was a nice touch, and the meat was perfectly cooked and uber tender. Sticky toffee pudding was exactly the sort of dark, moist, saucy, sticky toffee pudding that you want in a gastro pub. Definitely made properly with dates. The live music began as we were ordering dessert, and granted it was a bit loud, but it was good. It's also worth noting that when we went there was a bit of varied choice for veggies too.

Pork heaven, roast dinner was the best I've had since I came home last year! Winner , it's extra crispy crackling and the pork melts in your mouth. Get the cauliflower cheese side it has mustard in it mmmmm love this place

Dear The Elephant, I love you. We were in a hurry and you allowed us refuge in your charming establishment. We were cold, we were hungover, you were there, you were there. We adored the rustic aesthetic and your charming staff made us feel that we left with more friends than we had come in with. The food was to die for, any restaurant that comes to your table with extra gravy shall forever hold a special place in my heart. We felt our heads, mood and stomachs fill and rise whilst consuming the soup, roasts and burger. All of which were presented with finesse and care. I would also like to tell you the story of how; for the first time in my life, I fell in love with a toilet. The wood clad door blended perfectly into the rustic aesthetic of the wall it was situated within and inside was the most fantastic sink, continuing the charming feel of the venue. It was so nice, as the saying goes, I washed my hand twice. You will forever be in my fondest memories, a shining beacon of Woolton, and Liverpool. I remain, Infatuated.

Really cool place to go with friends and have a drink, especially on a hot summer day in the outdoor area. The food was really tasty but takes an excessive amount of time to arrive. The staff were really nice and we had a lovely evening here.

Dined here last weekend and found both the service and food excellent. Wait staff was knowledgeable and polite. Offered suggested alternatives for drinks (German Stout as opposed to the usual Guinness etc.) Starters were great and the mains were good. Overall was a great first visit to the Elephant. We'll be back again soon.

As majestic and stoical as its name suggests, the Elephant is a grand old pub with a preeminent spot in Woolton village and a neat side-garden where you can sit on sunny days, watching the traffic and pedestrians drift past. The staff are as friendly and good-natured as actual elephant-keepers (have you ever met a grumpy one?) and the food is the peak of excellence in terms of pub grub. The one gripe I can think of is the downright false advertising of the menu's 'Elephant Burger'. Guess what animal it's made from? Yeah, that's right, cow. Turns out it's just a larger-than-normal beef burger. If you read its name and automatically thought it was carved from the mastodonic bulk of a freshly-shot bull elephant, you're on my side and I share your aching disappointment. We'll never forget.

They talk about an elephant in the room. Well, this is an elephant pub, and apparently it's just as steeped in history as many of the beverage purveyors of Liverpool. This one, apparently, is the biggie. This one started the stormy relationship between one Mr Jonathan Lennon and one future vegetarian spokesperson and the divorcee you don't wanna mess with, El Paulo. Yes, the two visionaries, the fire and ice of the Beatles to put it in Spinal Tap terms first bumped into one another at Woolton's village fete, therefore Woolton's Elephant is keen to cash in on the deal. Well, not literally. First off, the building is just gorgeous. It's pink, like the elephants in Dumbo. That movie makes me sob like a baby, but thankfully this pub doesn't. Now it's Grade II listed (as so many Liverpool pubs are, the lucky scousers) and is run by the same gentle Irish chap who is responsible for Pogue Mahone's and a number of other drinkeries. You can get good honest food here and Sunday roasts, all made fresh on the premises, and the clientele are very varied, from Liverpool's suburbanites to urban professionals, students and boho types. It's a fab spot to engage in a bit of rest and relaxation... the music's quiet, the TV's silent, there aren't any machines and guest beers frequent the four cask ales they offer. There's a decent wine list to choose from and the ambience is very calm. I like it. It's a little different to your local rowdy boozer and offers a more chilled out ambience. I think it works rather well... do try it for yourself.

What on earth do you expect when someone says let's goto teh Elephant? My thoughts initial were, er excuse me what??! A pub in a Pudlian village named after an African animal. It's like an episode of strange but true, you remember that program all those years ago? The name I suppose is catchy. If you were expecting an African safari theme, you'll be dissappointed and let down. This pub is as interesting and unique as the next I'm afraid to say. It is as traditional as they come, all the normal shbang. Beer drinkers rejoice (not me!!) A standard beer garden esque facility for sun filled drinking and small talk debauchery. Oh yes of course it's pink so can't miss it. Why it's pink, no idea. No matter how "metro sexual " the male populatiuon gets I refuse to bow down to pressure and accept its ok for guys to like the colour. I have not purchased a shirt of a pink or "salmon" persuasion. Ultimately however I will concurr with Emma.L.H and say it won't hurt for you to visit this establishment.

Recently refurbished. Reasonable prices on drink and food. Basic but nice menu. Free wifi. Nice for an afternoon pint, gets busier at night, obviously.

Fantastic, warm welcome from the staff at the Elephant. We had a dog with us and we were made to feel very at home. The food is absolutely faultless - inventive twists on dishes and everything tasted really good. We all enjoyed our meals from starter, main course to dessert. The starter was different and delicious. I then had the pork tomahawk for main course and the flavours went together so well. And the pavlova for dessert was light and fresh. All very good value for money and the upstairs after its refurbishment looks beautiful. Definitely a new favourite in the area to eat out.

Fantastic place to eat, the attention is excellent, the staff is very attentive and pleasant. The food is very good. I give 5 stars to this place that you can also take your dogs to eat, the place is suitable for that and above all enjoy its delicious food. The prices you pay for the quality it is, it is worth paying.

The roast dinner was good but it came with loads of green broccoli that was uncooked. They forgot our Yorkshire puddings but the waitress was really nice and sort it out for us. The dessert was absolutely amazing.

Lovely atmosphere, the desserts were delicious, as were the drinks too; it's a shame they don't have any milk alternatives to offer. The pub looks more like a restaurant, well presented, cosy; maybe that's the reason for the high pricing 😂🧐

Everything about our visit was excellent but it has to be said that the highlight was the staff, they were so friendly and helpful! Nothing was too much for them. I had the Beef Wellington and it was very tasty. Atmosphere was lovely there too.

Had a fantastic fish and chips. Really well prepared and one of the best I have tried. The peas were without a doubt the best ones I have tasted. Highly recommended if you are in Woolton area. The place is really nice inside. I will suggest making a reservation. We had great service and food.
