Black Barrel

Went here with my husband last night, had seen it before and was curious. We are both avid rum lovers. We had some delicious cocktails that were very decently priced, it has a lovely chilled out atmosphere and the bar staff were lovely. We enjoyed it so much, we came back to it later on in the night!

One of my favorite bars I've ever been to. Why? Because they actually respect rum and have an extensive knowledge of it. At least the men working there do. Their rumspresso is close to a carajillo but a little different. Very tasty. They are great at mixing and have a great cocktail menu. With that said, I was there for the rum collection. They have an enormous amount of rum for 2022. Rum has fallen out of fashion in many places so I really respect businesses that still put passion behind it as it is a very diverse drink. The men behind the bar talked about pretty much every rum I pointed to on the shelves and for the first time in years I actually found some rums I hadn't seen elsewhere. We opened quite a few bottles for the first time and I tried many clean shots. I recommend people not get the Tikki fire shot. That will leave you feeling terrible. Otherwise there were some excellent flavors there. I went to this place 4 times in 3 days to try different stuff (as obviously I'm not going to try it all in a day). I absolutely never go to the same place twice when traveling unless it's amazing. I was in Liverpool for 3 days. Usually I'd be trying a bit of everything. But this place was great. I stayed across the street at the hotel, hence the weird photo of the place included in this review. It has a great location and it is truly a unique place. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Liverpool.
