We fancied a decent lunch, so checked out Trip advisor for restaurants in Camden and Daphne sounded great. We had the lunch deal for £9.99 with starter and a main dish and we wasn't disappointed. The food was delicious with my wife having Sea Bass and I had Chicken Souvlaki well presented and very tasty. The service was good and atmosphere made you feel like you were in the Mediterranean
Dafni has always had a special place in my heart for I went there a few times as a young woman. Returned tonight after many years and it didn't disappoint. All the diners were having a great time; the buzz of lively conversation and pleased expressions as they tasted their food, the friendly service and the unassuming ambience made it a very pleasant meal. Our moussaka and afelia were delicious; the moussaka had just the right balance of tastes, and my husband declared the afelia just like his mother used to make... the highest accolade. NB phone ahead and book as you don't want to be turned away, for the restaurant is quite small.
We found Daphne on google when looking for a traditional Greek Restaurant. We found it here & were delighted with the "Family" evening we spent. We had the Meze with all the Greek trimmings. The ambience was enlivened by a large Family celebrating a Lady`s 92nd birthday.
A little way out from the West End but served by a direct bus route & we used our free passes.
Very highly recommended.
Stumbled upon this lovely and friendly restaurant. Brilliant extensive menu, good specials which was well explained and well priced. Delicious food delivered by waiters with a good sense of humour. Well priced wine list. Definitely recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you Daphne's : )
The best family run restaurant in Camden the staff are friendly and the food is always good and served with a smile. Have been coming here for years and can highly recommend the place. Always have a enjoyable lunch or dinner and have had quite a few family get togethers here and we are always made to feel special and welcome.
A wonderful family restaurant. The first time I went to Daphne was a few years ago in the summertime. They have a a roof garden and a small patio to the front to enjoy the sunshine, which people do time after time, including myself.
I usually will go for the fish mezedes with the house wine which comes in half or litre measures. It's at least four courses, which the chef will choose for you, it is fresh and delicious, a particular favourite of the starter course is the tzatziki, it's so fresh and zingy. I love calamari and they do it very well here. Then comes a meat course with some halloumi and greek salad.
There a plenty of Greek/Cypriot places in London, but only a couple do it really well. I have to finish with a word on the service. Excellent!
Oh boy, are you in for a treat! A real Greek restaurant with a most delightful family running the place. The price well I feel a little guilty... the food was so fresh and tasty and in ample portions. Nicholas was an outstanding host, waiter, and, just as I thought, his family has owned the restaurant since 1984.
I just passed by and wanted to give it a try. After all, the price of the set lunch is very reasonable. I’m so glad that I made this decision cuz the food is just amazing! I order the mixed dip for starters and Afelia as a main. Just check the third picture out and you will see how much I like the Afelia!
I was hesitating about the menu, and an old lady came to me and explained everything, super friendly. Will definitely come back again soon!
Best Greek food I've had in London, hands down! This humble restaurant transports you to an authentic Greek taverna. The atmosphere and quality of the food is exactly what I know and love about dining in Greece.
Clearly popular with the locals, the staff share a personal connection with patrons which really brings a warming family feel to the place and is something seldom replicated in London.
The food itself is expertly and lovingly prepared, and speaks right to the soul. The lamb kleftiko I ordered was so perfectly juicy and tender, the video speaks for itself!
I hope to dine here again soon!
SUMMARY: A gem in the heart of Camden. Lovely Greek place with charming and welcoming metre. Very cosy and warm like when you are visiting grandma. Food was delicious. Really good value for money.
MENU: We had 2 set lunch menu, which included 1 starter and 1 main dish.
STARTERS: We selected a mix of dippers (tzatziki, humus, tarama and aubergine dip) with pita bread, and lentil soup. Both were delicious. The lentil soup felt like homemade.
MAIN DISHES: We picked charcoal grilled sea bass and chicken shashlik. Main courses included one side each to choose between rice, potatoes and salad. Both dishes were quite big and tasty. We couldn’t resist and order calamari as starter as well.
DESSERTS: They were not included in the set list, but wanted to give it a try. We tried Kataifi and Revani. They were alright, nothing remarkable.
PEOPLE: The two people attending the public were lovely chatting with us and explaining all the dishes very thoroughly.
☆Highly recommended☆
Absolute gem in the heart of Camden. Great service and lovely friendly staff. It seemed as if we had been invited to their house in Cyprus! Beautifully cooked and presented food. Will definitely visit again. 😊
A traditional Greek restaurant with delicious food and very friendly service.
The food was fresh, authentic and right on the mark. We ate halloumi, hummus, greek salad, octopus, seabream, swordfish steak, roast potatoes and dessert too.
Would highly recommend. This place is clearly an institution.
Very good Greek food, homey taste and kind service. We really enjoyed our dinner here!
This is one of the best Greek restaurants in London. A cosy environment and friendly staff provides the scene to enjoy delicious food and good wine! I strongly recommend it!
Our preferred was the Kleftiko, the octopus and Skordalia.
Set lunch is very delicious and certainly great value for money. The owner and her assistant are very friendly, making us feel very welcome. Highly recommended to anyone who likes Greek cuisine.
