Been twice now with my good friends who never stop talking about this place. Treated like a member of the family as soon as you walk in.
Food is amazing; cannot fault it.
Just tried the pre made butter chicken mix that they also sell for dinner tonight. WOW!!
3 for £12. Can't wait to make the Masala tomorrow.
Thanks again for an amazing meal again.
What can I say, absolutely incredibly food (the shacuti has flavours that absolutely dance in the mouth), lovely decor and atmosphere, and an owner in Savio who makes you feel you are dining at home all come together to provide my absolute favorite dining experience in London.
Fabulous freshly made food. Had a wonderful time! Friendly family atmosphere, made to feel welcome from the time we walked in to the time we left. Glad I found this place. It was very special. Thank you
After a long flight from New York earning for authentic Indian cuisine, my friend insisted on Goan food in London. 45 minutes drive later we were at lunching at Savio's Olde Goa. Aside the genuine Indian hospitality, we truly enjoyed the experience. It was like eating at home cooked food, the passion, love and enthusiasm shone through the delicacies served. Savio is not one to ever say no to anything you would wish to have from his favourite Goa, so go ahead and try him and I am sure he will not disappoint. 👍👍
I have always firmly believed that our roots go a long way in defining our bond with the food we enjoy. My Goan roots have made me have love affairs with almost every cuisine that has come my way. And when I see an opportunity to go back to those roots, explore Goan cuisine all over again, I rarely let go of it. I must thank Muktasdiaries for strongly endorsing this place.
I called up Olde Goa a few days in advance to make a reservation. The voice at the other end had the familiar warmth of Goa and the connection was instantly made with Savio - the one man show at Olde Goa.
Come Sunday and we made the long journey to Norbury. Right from the moment we stepped in, it was signature Goa. Savio welcomed us with a big smile, made us comfortable and shared his stories with us. One wall is adorned with the familiar Mario Miranda's cartoons while the kitchen is surrounded by small artefacts that would instantly transport you to a Goan village.
We started off with Limbu Soda (a modified lemonade) with rock salt and that is where you knew you were at the right place.
Savio then dished out an excellent starter platter of his signature Crab and Fish cakes along with some Lamb croquettes. The ease with which the cakes melted in our mouth cannot be described in words.
For the mains we had the Goan prawn curry, Peixe Recheado (with tilapia) and Sorpotel (pork curry - diced pork marinated in Goan coconut vinegar) with some Goan boiled rice and some Pilau rice. It had been ages since I had Sorpotel and it was delicious. The Recheado which has its origins in Portugal was the best dish of the day. Fish so tenderly cooked, one could feel it melt with every bite. The prawns curry with coconut made the experience almost complete.
And how could we not have the Bebinca, the traditional layered Goan cake. (The original Bebinca is supposed to have 16 layers). Lip smacking.
What an amazing lunch. We returned with some lovely memories and tastes of Olde Goa and the lovely hospitality of Savio.
Make sure you do not miss this place.
Lovely atmosphere and fabulous food. The crab cakes were probably the best I've had and the fish curry was brilliant. The service was excellent! Savio is a great host - friendly and very attentive. Had a great time. Will definitely be visiting again soon.
Me and my guests had a fabulous evening at the Olde Goa for my husband's 50th birthday party. We received a warm and friendly welcome, from Savio the owner as always. Savio, is a passionate man, a kind and friendly soul, who wants to please and share his genuine knowledge and experience with his customers. Savio has a vision, he works hard to fulfil it.
He is ambitious, driven, warm and generous; plus he is anxious to please people. We had a truly wonderful evening, with freshly made, utterly delicious very distinctive Goan food and live music by Geoff who is a gifted singer and guitarist. A rare in itself, a delicious treat which complemented this very special evening beautifully!
Savio and his team are refreshingly genuine, and truly passionate, warm, and generous. His restaurant is friendly, homely, and wonderfully intimate where every customer matters. Savio is hands on and happily engages with his customers. He is flexible, spontaneous, attentive and always keen to please! I have known Savio for as long as he has had the restaurant (one of many ventures) And can honestly say, that he is totally genuine. He is a man who deserves customers who can appreciate his warmth, his truly delicious food, his generosity, his diligence, and willingness to please like the best of hosts at a really good dinner party. Savio also does a whole range of delicious home made goodies, like chutneys etc... On sale in his restaurant and elsewhere, made with ingredients grown on his families farm in Goa.
We couldn't have asked for better evening, it was really unforgeable. Savio's Goan food, being wonderfully fresh and clean tasting, light and distinctive is for people who like to taste what they eat, and for people who enjoy really good food. Savio, also makes the perfect masala tea!
So, if you want something a bit special and like being cared for whilst eating food cooked from the heart, the Olde Goa restaurant is for you!
We are very lucky in Norbury (South London) to have Savio and his family, offering us their delicious food in what is a little gem of a restaurant.
THANK YOU SAVIO! and to your team for a truly marvellous evening!!!!

Some of the best Goan food I've ever had. Everything is fresh and flavoured perfectly. Its Got a very cosy vibe, almost feels like you're having a a home cooked meal in a family home. Savio and his mum are really friendly and do all the cooking themselves. It is a small place so best to call ahead and book.
Cannot speak highly enough about this place. Wonderful family feel (mother cooking in the kitchen right behind our table) very nice and attentive staff. The best part of Olde Goa is the food. So much flavor in every dish. Extremely reasonable prices and it is BYOB (and they make sure you know it). Its hard to truly characterize how much I enjoyed the food, can only recommend going to try it yourself.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Such a friendly owner who was very happy to talk to us throughout the evening. We enjoyed every plate and were sad to leave! The food arrived quickly and was fresh and hot. The drinks we're well paired as one can bring ones own allowing planning before hand. Strongly recommend you pay them a visit.
Cannot speak highly enough about this place. Wonderful family feel (mother cooking in the kitchen right behind our table), great people, and the best part is the food. So much flavor in every dish. We even went to Dishoom the next day and I would still recommend going out of your way to get to this family run gem. And to top it all off it only has the most reasonable of prices and it is BYOB (and they make sure you know it).
We absolutely love coming here for dinner. Savio, the owner and chef is very friendly and cooks amazing things! The menu is different and has great flavours. It's BYOB and the meals are reasonably priced, so it's a great date night! If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend. And if you're not in the area and looking for something different, it's definitely worth the journey! Call ahead to make sure it's open / has space and be ready to be blown away!
A truly home styled Goan Restaurant. Establishment run by a very close knit family and with a trio of generations on show.
The restaurant is small and designed as you would find in Goa itself, tight, loving and homely.
Food was good quality and big portions - with it all being freshly made and to taste.
Utterly delicious! We ate here by chance but will definately be returning. Both the lamb and chicken curry were so yummy and I would recommend them. Service was excellent and atmosphere very warm and welcoming.
Hearing about this, we got off the train at Norbury and wondered what we were doing in a street full of fast food takeaways. When we arrived Savio greeted us and said he'd called back to confirm our booking. He offered us some Indian wine. Really? Why not? We had more than one bottle and were obviously impressed. Menu is limited and Savio explained as he only cooks what he can get fresh. He proceeded to cook and talk to us at the same time. During the evening we met his family and truly felt that we were being treated as long lost friends. He is passionate about great food and it clearly shows. Can't wait for another trip to London just to visit this restaurant. A hidden jewel.
I was delighted with the food and very happy with the Service. Chef Savio is passionate about what he does and his mother helps him. It's very sweet, he's jolly and mingles with diners as if he's invited them to his him. There is an open kitchen so you can see him crafting the dishes.
There is a very authentic Goan feel and the attention to detail is astounding.
I trusted Savio to decide on my dishes and I was delighted. There is a little bit of a wait when it's busy as it's just Savio, but it's worth the wait!
A crab cake not stuffed with potatoes went down very well. A beef main with tender beef and rice and real Nimbu lemonade made me feel like I was in Goa. I'd be more than happy to go there again.
The only downside is I took the table nearest to the kitchen so I left with my clothes smelling like the kitchen. Not a big issue for some, but certainly for me. The solution just sit near to the door next time!
I celebrated my birthday here last Sunday and we all had a wonderful time! Conce was our chef for the day and she was so warm and friendly, as were her son and grandson. I really appreciated that they took the time to come and chat to us too. The stand-out dishes for me were the Crab and Fish Cutlets, Sorpotel and Vainguin Piri Piri. With the wonderful Goan beats in the background I genuinely felt like I was by the beach! It's BYOB and if you are particular about spice, just let them know beforehand. I have already returned for a take-away and would definitely go back for another sit-down meal!
