Well decorated space, superb service, and the food was outstanding.
Only one small detail that in my opinion should be improved: the sommelier should be more careful with the wine that serves to the customers. We reject two bottles that were not in conditions and after calling the sommelier, he agrees with us that the wine was not proper conditions. In the end we didn't pay the bottles, but I think that this can be avoided.
Nevertheless, this restaurant is a great place and I recommend it.
My family come here every time we visit London. This is the high end of French cuisine in the area. We had an excellent lunch with friends, the 2-course lunch menu is very good value and absolutely delicious. comprehensive wine list with quality wine. Service is always great. We can't wait to go back
Not up to usual standard last night Sweetbread starter was excellent but suckling pig was disappointing Very noisy as well , hard to hear Price keeps creeping up, suggest they offer 2 courses or 3 courses pricing
Six of us for dinner on a Saturday night. Booking essential as the place was heaving by 8pm. Superb service throughout from all the staff, who were polite, knowledgable, efficient and friendly. Our table chose a variety of starters, with me going for the sweetbreads, which were tasty and well presented. Our main courses were either suckling pig (fabulous) or salt marsh lamb (fantastic). Great choice of puddings and cheese .... the best pudding being the souffle! Wow! Great choice of wine (the California cabernet was excellent), plus aged tawny port and brandies!!! The bill came to c£850 incl 12.5% service charge ..... We thought this was a fair price to pay for a wonderful and very memorable evening!
We loved and appreciated every thing in this wonderful restaurant.
From the warm and friendly welcome to the amazing service.
The dishes from the aperitif to the small salted Carmel is something that is set to please any taste palette.
We went there as a family twice , never disappointed is a word I would say again and again .
I hope it keeps its standard and would review it again .
For us this a restaurant that will make us review other restaurants differently .
Even on a gloomy mid February evening, La Trompette in Chiswick looks cheery and inviting with its bubble shaped box hedge and wide awning. This is one of five Michelin starred London restaurants co-owned by clever restaurateur Nigel Platts-Martin. Over the last 20+ years, this astute money man has teamed up with chefs he admires and, in partnership with them, has brought us exquisite, top of the range, elegant but informal dining experiences, most of which, like La Trompette, are neighbourhood based. The Square in Mayfair and The Ledbury in Notting Hill, he owns with the talented Messrs. Phil Howard and Brett Graham, La Trompette in Chiswick, The Glasshouse in Kew and the fabulous Chez Bruce in Wandsworth, with one of my all-time favourite chefs, Bruce Poole.
My absolute favourite restaurant in London. I have celebrated 3 birthdays there and am still amazed by how good the food is each time.
Very friendly and professional staff (very helpful sommelier !).
The menu changes regularly depending on the season so there's always something to discover, and every time I go I always end up going home rolling on the floor because everything is so good I just can't stop eating.
The second part of my Square reunion series takes me to La Trompette in Chiswick. The restaurant is one of three more casual French eateries under the ownership of Nigel Platts-Martin (who also owned the Square) and Bruce Poole. I have already written about the other two restaurants (Chez Bruce and Glasshouse) previously but not La Trompette, as I had visited the restaurant during my blog’s sabbatical.
When we moved to London, I started hearing of a lot of neighborhoods that I had never heard of before, such as Chiswick. Friends also educated me on the fact that this hood has several very good restaurants, and as such, we made plans to visit one of them, La Trompette. We had recently been to Chez Bruce and La Trompette is owned by the same people and has a similarly structured set menu. We had tasty French food with some British undertones and would go again if we happened to see friends in Chiswick.
Lunch menu is very good value. What you get for the lunch choices are great value considering how much it would cost you of an eve.
Its not the cheapest all rounder but its very smart and not overdone, the service is subtle and sharp
simple french menu excellent cuisine in a lovely setting
last time we went we were really dissapointed that they didnt have the choclate mouse which was the best i have ever tasted
The setting outside is lovely with a great ambience. The staff were nice. The restaurant had nice decor. The food was very good and all 3 course were very filling. We loved everything - the lamb and duck with foi gras were particularly good, we did prefer the lamb slightly over the beef (although the dauphinoise potatoes were great). However the soufflé was definitely the star of the show. And it's a very generous portion! (The custard and cherry dessert wasn't our favourite.) And they had a good selection of dessert wines. The salted caramel chocolate truffles at the end were a delicious treat, too!
A delightful birthday dinner at La Trompette. This one Michelin-starred restaurant has a fixed price set menu. We started with some beautifully dressed Colchester rock oysters. I had the cured sea bass starter which was stunning, and the better of the two starters we had (the other was the crab and scallop raviolo). While the roasted cod with razor clams I had was good, it was the Yorkshire grouse that really stood out and was perfectly cooked and paired with crushed root vegetables, celeriac purée, port roasted figs and crispy pancetta. The desserts were good (banana soufflé and roasted pear financier) but we weren't wowed in the same way the cured sea bass and grouse wowed us. The service was great, they even brought out a second dessert (brownie) for my partner's birthday.
Wow the food was definitely worthy of way more than 1 michelin star. The service a little slow but understandable as there was a large group booked perhaps, but even so. Can’t wait to try it again soon! 😍 thank you.
Enjoyed the visit. I would rate this restaurant as casual fine dining. Between a bib and a star. The food is to the point and well cooked. Enjoyed all dishes from start to finish. The bread is well-made, and the set menu is delicious and offers plenty of variation. Wine list is nice and has the usual UK prices :D. Glasware could be more elevated.
The evening was very nice and enjoyed all aspects as well as some of the wine pairings. Sommelier was friendly as well as the service. As the evening progressed, the standard went down. At the end had to flag the service staff multiple times for the wine list, to order, ask for the sommelier to advise. In the end, we did not order more wine and asked for the bill. Wish they would bring this up to the standard of a fine dining restaurant. The dining room is large and might need more staff. All in all a very nice restaurant, good solid hearty cooking with a little bit "clunky" service moments.
We had lunch here on Good Friday and loved the spring menu. I had an aromatic wild garlic veloute for starters followed by succulent lamb loin with crispy belly main course. Then a lovely light and fluffy banana soufflé for dessert served with a sharp passion fruit ice cream. Beautiful food and surroundings with a friendly service!
They deserve the star!😍
Excellent food and service. I would like to have more starters and the waiter recommend me the tasting menu, too good to have it together with his recommended white wine, it’s perfect for my birthday dinner.
P.S: amazing price less than £170 per head with the tasting menu+wine+ birthday sweet.
I attended as a guest of a wine society for a 64 head luncheon, comprising 4 courses. The restaurant coped with all the dietary requirements with good grace and precision. The food was simply delightful with their regular menu tweaked to allow us to taste the various wines that we had brought with us. I will be coming back again as I had a great meal and a good time.
We went for a Thursday night dinner to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary.
The one large problem I had with the menu was deciding what to have as it all looked fantastic. There is a tasting menu that seemed very good, but we didn’t fancy eating that many courses. The food we I pick was delicious. The staff are also brilliant, highly efficient and friendly. Lots of staff so the service is brilliant and didn't have to wait for service.
Excellent food. I ordered braised lamb as starter and deer meat as main. Both were excellent. Desserts were good but not outstanding. I ordered the bitter chocolate delice. Too sweet. Price was reasonable. £50 for 3 courses at lunchtime in the weekend. Staff were ok (not outstanding). I’ll be back again!
My wife and I went for a Valentine’s Day lunch and really enjoyed the food. We had the tasting menu, which was a bit pricier (the lunch set at £39.95 is a bargain for the food quality), but it was well worth it. The cured sea bream appetiser with togarashi and the linguine with black truffles were sublime. The service was attentive but not intrusive, and the restaurant was spacious but still intimate. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable venue, and I highly recommend it.
